I think timing is key and Degale doesnt quite have it down to a tee yet.:smoke

Canadian fan's are the worst most of them aren't really boxing fans, good thing is since Lemiuex lost a few of them left the site, it's funny that you criticise Degale but as soon as someone says anything bad about Bute there a Troll, stick to talking about Bute, thanks.

I've convinced, although saying he is the most skillful after Mayweather already would be pushing it a bit, i would put him top 5 just now on skill with potential to be higher in the very near future if he deals with the steps up that await him, i think he will with flying colours.

maybe the likes of donaire, hopkins, pacman, ward, martinez, ect are better all round fighters atm, infact they definatly are at this stage but degale has more skill, more trick shots, and punch variation and if he tightens up his defence and uses the jab to better effect he will become a better fighter than all of them imo..

I'm not criticizing Degale, I write fair points on him, saying that he has talent.

I call a troll when people act like a troll. You seem to not understand that.

I didn't call Degale a big mouth, overated, a ko to happen, only facing bums and scared the **** to face anybody. See? That's a troll or a hater. I don't have any problem with fair people giving their opinion on Bute.

I have been convinced since his debut, which was lackluster but the kid made adjustments! I see someone like ward as just an amateur, his style is so am! The hold stick move flare my arms move shoeshine, flare.......yay I won! Chunky is good, and has a lot of potential. He will never be exposed, because he fights as who he is, flaws and all. So come the 21 istf he losses, he will man up. If he wins he will march on and be looking at a WORLD TITLE at the end of the year. He sort of reminds me of Oscar in that he is being brought up quick with quick steps up in competition and fighting often. It took Ward 5 years post gold medal to get offers for a title shot, DeGale received on in just under 3! no disrespect to Ward, just not my kind of fighter.

I like Degale so far. Once he dispatches of Groves, he needs to step up to Euro level and be fighting the Andrade kind of people. Someone who can take a pasting and keep coming, really enforce their heart upon him and see how he responds. My guess is he'll beat them from pillar to post, that's not to say however that he should be exempt from proving himself at Euro level prior to a title shot. It'll be brilliant experience for him, and I thoroughly expect him to have stripped Steiglitz title from him before the end of 2012 (thats if, someone hasn't done so already).

All we can do right now is speculate. Ask yourself this though:

If the fight were to materialise and be scheduled to take place in 6 months, would you bet £100 on Ward to beat Degale?

Personally, I wouldn't. I'd certainly favor Ward right now, but to consider Degale a risk to Ward right now speaks volumes in itself.

To put Degale against Ward in 6 months would be a stupid matchmaking decision. Give him some time to develop. He's not ready yet.

Fully agree it'd be stupid matchmaking. Need to let them both ripen as market attractions (and in Degale's case, a world competitor), before any attempt whatsoever is made at putting this fight together.

Was just speaking on a purely hypothetical level, I wouldn't stake £100 right now on Ward to beat Degale. Infact, I wouldn't bet half that, and when you consider one is widely regarded as the best in the deepest division, and the other is merely 10 fights into his pro-career, I think it says a lot...

Great talent, just a bit worried about his power (or lack of) if/when he steps up to world level.

Can imagine top tough SMW's like Froch or Ward walking him down if Degale ever gets to that level.

Lets be realistic for a minute, his level of opposition to date has been mediocre at best. He's very easy to hit,and his power hasn't been proven at a higher level. To compare him to Mayweather and say he'd beat Froch and Kessler is laughable.

Thats a bit of an overstatement.

I used to think he was an olympic hype job, but i have seen something in him recently that has made me think wow, this guy is good. He really has grown quickly in a short space of time.

But i still need a few questions answered.

I need to see how he responds to:

    • Being dropped hard or at least taking some massive bombs
    • Being behind on points and needing to pull something out of the bag in the last few rounds
    • Being put under serious pressure and how he would deal with a true world class fighter (not the best world class but someone who is quite good)
    • How he would deal with a loss, as in how he would come back from it.
Lets not forget he is still growing as a fighter so cant throw him to the lions just yet, but i am almost sold on him becoming or already being something special. I just need to see him in a few scenarios that i have not seen him in before to make my full judgemnt.

I am going to the fight saturday so some of my questions will hopefully be answered.

I really hope he doesnt, he doesnt have to be like anybody, he has his own skillset, and its a great one....would you really want to see him hit and hold every 5 seconds? Or headbutt and elbow....i sure as hell wouldnt....im a fan of Degales....hope he goes far....
