Your ugliness may be something you've learned to live with.

Your ugliness, true though it may be, still has nothing to do with the unavoidable fact that a clip of a Greb or an Ali goofing around isn't a fair representation of their style.

Whatever you say doesn't prove anything. I have proof for what I say, you do not. He looks stupid in that clip.

I did have Hagler but I'm not convinced he was as great as monzon when I think about it.

Nobody is disputing that based upon what i've read.

Everyone is just pointing out that you are drawing some ridiculous conclusions.

Either that Greb can be rated down based upon that clip OR none.

One is incorrect, two is such an incredible waste of your time I actually hope it was one.

Obviously it was neither of those mate. I clearly stated that I wasn't trying to take away from Greb the first time you quoted me. I'm just pointing out that he looks stupid in that clip. Stonehands, bless him, tried to troll with a clip of Ali. Ali doesn't even look 'ridiculous' in his clip though.

my actual point against what Stonehands has been posting is, a great record doesn't mean you look 'great'. His wee analogy about my looks proved this, since I am an ugly *******, but I'm punching well about my weight with my girlfriend, and girlfriends I've had before. Ugly can be effective.

Proof is used to substantiate a position. Your "position" is that Greb may be great but that he looks like "shite on film." Here's a newflash for you: That clip isn't proof. It doesn't do a thing to substantiate your position.

I'm calling you out because your position is stupid.

My god, again, for such an intelligent guy, your defensive approach to this topic is making you out to be ******ed. I never once said anything other than 'he looks stupid in the clip'. You try to troll with a clip of Ali (And Ali doesn't look bad compared to the Greb clips anyway), so I trolled back with the Greb thing. You then went off on a tangent talking about his record, how many hall of famers he beat and how ugly I may be.

You're the one with the indefensible position. He may well look like the greatest thing ever on film. By all means.
I've only ever been saying that he looks like a mongo in the clips we have. I can back that up.

    About Greb:

Yes, we don't have fight footage of him. However, we do have fight footage of a certain Gene Tunney, former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, who only lost once in over 80 fights - to a certain Harry Greb. And how does Tunney look on film? Bloody good - even Ali was impressed by him. And Greb was the only guy to beat him. Just to mention, Greb was a middleweight - beating a prime Gene Tunney, a top 3 ATG LHW, who eventually moved up and won the legit HW title by spanking Dempsey twice.

I think we can conclude from this that Greb was an exceptionally great fighter. If he can handle a prime granite-jawed master-boxer a whole weight division higher, and give him a licking, I think he'd do just fine with the smaller, lighter-hitting, less mobile Hagler.

As for the original Q, ofc Hagler is a top 10 MW, he's at least top 5 and arguably top 3. I have Greb then Monzon ahead of him, Hagler 3rd, although I can see putting people like Fitz, Walker, Ketchel, maybe even Robinson (overrated at MW IMO) above him.

I'm not saying he wasn't great. I even agree he was great. But a fighter he beat looking good doesn't automatically mean he looks good. Effective, obviously, good? Can't say.

I agree he looks crap on that film. But it's not a fight, so we don't really know what he was trying to do.
