I'll put a poll up and you can share your thoughts below. Now, I've said this before and will repeat it here: Pacquiao vs Mayweather will never, ever happen. The only chance, in my mind, that this fight could take place is if Manny Pacquiao lost a bout sometime between now and when he decides to hang them up. In that instance, Team Pac might feel they need a victory over Mayweather to restore their luster. Of course, under such a circumstance there is no guarantee that Mayweather would grant Team Pac the fight or even want it himself. It does not seem particularly likely that Manny Pacquiao is going to lose a fight in his final 5-or-so remaining bouts. I'm not saying he can't lose, but the odds are surely going to be in his favor. Additionally, it appears as though the discussion about the rumored Mayweather vs Ortiz bout has subsided. Floyd, I think, has said as much. So, there seems to be little on tap at this time in terms of potential Mayweather bouts in the near future. Pacquiao, for his part, seems intent on fighting Juan Manuel Marquez for a third time. If that fight does not materialize in the near future, I think that Pacquiao may turn to unbeaten American Timothy Bradley for his next match-up. Given all of this information, the question becomes: This content is protected Mayweather is talking a lot these days about Pacquiao, but that bout seems as distant as ever. If Floyd is not going to fight Ortiz, will he fight anyone? Is it Pacquiao or bust? Does Floyd actually want to fight Pacquiao, even? Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is 34 years old. He has not fought since May of 2010 and has fought just twice in the last three-plus years. If Mayweather never fights again, do you care? What will his legacy be should he never fight again and should he never face his rival, Manny Pacquiao, in the ring?
i dont think he will fight again, he still ranks higher then pac, pacs catchweights and recent herrypicking are hurting his legacy
he goes through money way too fast. He's going to have to eventually fight again so he can get a >$30million payday.
Not whilst all the court cases, and possible jail are hanging over his head. He said in his most recent interview that he wouldn't want boxing fans to pay to see his fights if he wasn't 100%, I would say he's not 100% there mentally at the minute...too many distractions. I would like to see him fight again (Pacquiao being the obvious opponent)...but I wouldn't want to see him enter the ring again if he is a shadow of his former self.
But how long from now? Time is not on his side. I hope to see Floyd in the ring again this year. I voted yes based mostly on that hope.
If Floyd has a shot at fighting Pac (and I think he does not), then that's not happening, it seems, until Floyd is at least 35 years old (next February or so, at the earliest).
Manny doesn't need Floyd Mayweather. Floyd is destined to always be known as the 2nd best fighter of his era, I do wonder if Floyd will one day wake up and realise this fact, and regret not fighting Pacquaio, because right now, no one but the most ardent FMJ loyalist would suggest that Floyd is greater than Pac. I think Floyd will fight again, but like Roach said, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. Probably against a Khan, Ortiz type. Depends on how much money he makes outside boxing, maybe he'll have to come back to build up his bank account numbers. As for Manny, he'll put on a few more shows, mostly against guys who are unlikely to test him. I think he's achieved so much, that everything now is just a bonus, nothing left to do for him, other than earn some more money and put on a few more shows for his many, many fans.
He won't come back and fight Pacquiao, so I don't give a s**t All the idiot fans can enjoy watching him fight Victor Ortiz, giving him a huge pay day against poor opposition and another world title.
With powerpellet as a name he's not being sarcastic. I think FLoyd will fight again for sure(aside PAcquiao). And my hope is still up he will eventually fight Pacquiao. I haven't seen anything definite yet.
