This is too bloated and full of personal preference spin to address adequately.

I recall Mayweather stating that "Only maybe Joe Calzaghe comes close to me in terms of skill", he is a bit of a bullshitter mind you but he said it, Floyd rates Joe C! :good

It's not just a question of "Who", "How" should also be looked into.

How long did it take him to finally unify?, and did he call out the other champions or did the other champions literally beg to make it happen?, where did it happen?, did he run after them?, how many tomato cans are on his list of "record breaking title defenses"?

If Hopkins was being criticised for his title defenses at middleweight Hopkins fought and beat all the champions in his reign at middleweight, he didn't stay somewhere unknown defending his title against local tomato cans like Calzaghe did. Any champion that wants to dominate a division aims for unification FIRST. That wasn't Calzaghe's plan.

I'm happy to see how Calzaghe is remembered, even threads involving him don't last long enough and are deserted. I'll be surprised if the majority know who this guy is anyway and that's good enough for someone not overratted anymore. And it didn't take long to rate him where he's supposed to be.

"Legacy" nonsense, oh please. This is the first time someone aiming for legacy drops from P4P#2 to #3 in his last "legacy seeking" fight against a beyond past it Jones Jr.

His last fight pretty much exposed what he's about. When people miraculously remember him they will only remember him for three fights, 44 year old Hopkins, Jeff "21 fights" Lacy(even with 21 fights Calzaghe mentions this fight more than he mentions his name) and last but not least the supreme greatness! Mikkel Kessler!

With all the other real legends around their first 10 fights is probably more impressive than this guy's entire career.
