    Braehmer-Cleverly off

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]WBO light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer will not be able to defend his title against interim titlist Nathan Cleverly on Saturday in London after a cut suffered in training reopened on Tuesday. Braehmer will not be traveling to London today as scheduled.
Cleverly is still planning to fight a late substitute on Saturday night. Promoter Frank Warren is seeking to have the WBO strip Braehmer of the belt and have Cleverly elevated to full championship status.
This is the third straight fight Braehmer has pulled out of. First he pulled out of a July 2010 defense against Alejandro Lakatus in Schwein, Germany, citing a back injury. Then in January he pulled out of a title unification clash with WBA champ Beibut Shumenov in Kazakhstan after allegedly falling ill.

    Frank Warren's Response:

    Warren rips Braehmer

Frank Warren has branded WBO light heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer “unprofessional” and a “disgrace” after he pulled out of Saturday’s clash with Nathan Cleverly. “Braehmer was due to fly into the UK on Tuesday,” explained the promoter. “We got a call saying that he had missed his flight, but would land in the UK on Wednesday at 12pm. We sent a car to pick him up from the airport, but he didn’t show up. I then read on the internet that he has a cut and won’t be fighting. We then found out that his team had emailed their hotel at 8:30am on Wednesday morning and cancelled their rooms. Neither Braehmer nor his promoters have picked up the phone and had the decency to explain to me what is going on. He is completely unprofessional, and the WBO should impose the ultimate sanction, which is to strip him of his title. It’s one of the most unprofessional things I have seen in my time in boxing. It’s a complete joke, an utter disgrace.”

He bottled it not the first time, pretty pissed off really, I think Cleverly would of won this won he was looking in prime condition and looking confident.
Braehmar passed his medical with no cut and anyway bit close to fight night to be sparing, what a load of ****..

I was looking forward to seeing both fighters, as they have some hype to live up to. Too bad the "Hundred Year Talent" isn't living up to it.

He also pulled out of 2 fights in Germany last year, he needs to be stripped of the belt he's been holding hostage (which isn't really his anyway, but whatever. It's not like any "champion" is really legitimate) and he certainly doesn't deserve any more notable fights until he either gets his act together or goes to jail.
