There's been a lot of talk over the years that Pac is easy to hit, but it hasn't proven true. The image of Pac being easy to hit seems like a residue from his early years and his wars with JMM and Morales, 2 of the best offensive fighters of our generation. Both elite boxer/punchers who were great at throwing combos and willing to trade.

The only fighter who has been able to land and hurt Pac recently was Margarito, who basically had to walk through Pac's power shots to land his own. And he was able to do it because of his massive size/reach advantage and his incredible chin. Cotto got a few good shots in only because Pac allowed him to. Clottey got a few decent punches in, but nothing too effective. Mosley barely him hit with anything. DLH, Hatton and Diaz got nothing but air. I don't know how people equate that to Pac being easy to hit.

Pac actually has very good defense. Not great for countering like the shell defense, but effective nonetheless. He uses a lite version of the turtle shell defense, which is actually quite hard to break through. He has a great habit of keeping his hands up, and is always able block a lot of incoming punches. Knocking him down is very difficult because of this, unless someone is able to land 2 or more power shot from a combo.

Complimenting his lite turtle shell is his ability to move around so quickly and avoid danger. He also has good head movement and fights at a very unpredictable rhythm, making him difficult to time even for some of the best fighters in the world. Pac does square up from time to time, but his head is usually slightly off-center and the fact that he fights from a southpaw stance gives him some naturals defensive advantages. Giving how aggressive he is on offense, his defense is quite good, and him being easy to hit have been greatly exaggerated.

hes got a decent d , could be better . He can slip punches pretty well and block / parry off shots. He's a bit vulnerable to the jab and leaves himself open for right hand at times. i think he showed perfect defense / movement in the de la hoya fight. He's evolved into a good counter puncher also.

Pacquiao's defense is his offense. Take away the offense either by adaptive countrpunching like Marquez or a lot more effective way by cutting him down smartly like Floyd does, and he's there to be hit. He has no inside game whatsoever, he brawls off the ropes but that won't work against Mayweather. With that said, if it was that easy, Pac would obviously have more losses. But given the right style match-up he's having lately, he's near unstoppable.

Pac was hit less then mayweather vs mosley. Matter of fact pac beats mayweather among. Common opponents. Pac got hit less with Oscar, hatton, and. Mosley with exception to JMM. H2H with common opponents pac is the better defensive fighter then floyd

After watching the slow mo replays of rounds 1,7 and 11 in Pac-Marquez II (the closest rounds in the fight) I have to say his defense is definitely underrated. A lot of the shots I though landed on Pac he actually either avoided totally or blocked. Again, he's no Sweet Pea but his defense is actually good (not just decent) but good especially considering how many punches he throws.

The scoring was off but I think it's still worth a watch to see 2 elite fighters fighting at the highest level.

pac is great at slipping punches, parrying, and dodging, but he uses philly d where he eats a lot of uppercuts from cotto and margo. also, on his best defense is his lateral movements which makes his opponents miss (dlh).

    dear bora bora

If Pac has **** poor defense, name 10 fighters in boxing with better defense than him. Because if Pac has **** poor defense, 95% of boxers has **** defense.

I've always felt that he has one of the best high guards in boxing if not the best.

and his counterpunching is underrated as well

Most of the time Pac gets hit these days he's either launching his own attack or else baiting his opponent to throw so he can counter them.

He's not a defensive wizard, but he does seem to have improved in this area.

Really, his only glaring defense weakness is uppercut defense (then again, thats just part of his not-so-good inside fighting)

It's been interesting to see his defensive development over the years. I don't know about underrated, but it's definetly improved massively, since his FW days. I guess it needed to improve, given he's fighting guys twice his size.

This is a fact! Unfortunately, others see anything good about Pac as a myth!
