15 rounds at light heavyweight...could the fencing master from Philadelphia pull the upset on the dangerous Foster?
    :think (Remember Chris Finegan?)

Tommy Loughran, who was miles better than Pierre Fourie (who twice went 15 against Foster) would win a 15 round decision. Loughran would be one of the very few in history capable of doing this.

Foster was not in Loughran's league. Loughran on points, by a wide margin.

Hard one to call. Foster is better offensively, Loughran is better defensively. Knowing my tastes, I'd probably have Loughan winning, but by the same token I can see many picking Foster off of the kind of fight that I envision them having.

loughran was very unimpressive to me on film. he was a bit of a poor mans gene tunney, but with one arm. foster would absolutley slaughter him in 2-3 rounds. I think mauro mina and eddie cotton were better than loughran. watch the film if you don't believe me.

What fast boxers do you have in mind mate? Obviously not Ali (Nobody could be comparing Bob out of his element at Heavyweight vs the consensus greatest fighter ever there in Ali to Loughran) or any other heavyweight as this fight will be at 175, where Bob has some supreme physical assets not the least his reach and jab. I think peak Foster at 175 has some really good skills and weapons to counter the slick mover. His reach, speed, long jab and ever present power danger makes him especially dangerous to boxers IMO. 15 rounds is a long time and he certainly carries his power into the late rounds.

Do you think Mina and Cotton could beat Sharkey ,Baer, and Braddock Suzie?
How about close fights with Greb ,Tunney ,Delaney.Lomski.?

I would have guessed Foster by a close decision...with Loughran presenting stylistic problems, and better timing with the jab...(slightly)...Loughran would have some rough spots though with the deadly Foster, and would have to use his vast experience of fighting the very best of his era (and it was an impressive lot) to survive...It is very close,IMO... but Foster by MD

I agree, besides eddie cotton was a fast boxer, so was allen thomas, a dangerous young contender.

speaking of the ali fight, foster was the first to cut ali. busted him up something horribly with that jab. he would do the same to tommy.
