Joe Louis vs. Wladimir Klitschko.

The common misconception regarding Joe Louis is that he would walk through the Klitschkos and Lewis.

Could Joe Louis compete on the outside with Wladimir Klitschko? Could he outjab him?

And if not, does he have the footspeed to get inside?

This is not an easy night for Louis like you think

 

In this whole thread I didnt read one plausible argument for Louis KOing a modern super heavyweight. Not one, but a lot insults from people obviously with a lack of knowledge on sports evolution, training methods, nutrition and so on. With modern nutrition alone you can increase your sport skills about 30 %.

Hell it´s pure and simple ridiculous, if somebody really thinks sportsmen from the 30ies could compete with modern top HW´s. This noncritical glorification of the past is really silly and stupid.

If you watch these old fights, you can see that it was never ever on the same athletic level. NEVER! You must be blind or ******ed not to see and accept it. Obviously a lot of people watch these fight and masturbate on it. These were all great fighters in THEIR time, but nowadays. NEVER!

Klitschko KO 1 Louis. Lewis KO1 Louis, Tyson KO 1 Louis. Missmatch due to time factor! And that has nothing to do with modern HW skills, but their advantage livin in the 21.century. Get real, people. Put Jesse Owens in a 100m event in 2008, and you will see how modern athlethes are.

 

Like all young fellas you havn't learnt 'its not he size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog' Louis seriously ko's Klitschko and Lewis before the 7th round. Much quicker, more gifted puncher, knew where to plant his feet and how to get inside. And one more thing........Louis came to fight and fight convincingly! Those other two do not.

The fights would be close. I'd favour the modern guys, but KO before 7 is just stupid

 

The 30's and early 40's were horrible. The country was in a severe depression and then the war began. Hell, most of them went to bed hungry. Working on the dock was a "secure" job with good money. "Charles Atlas" was mere fiction, no one "worked out". Everyone smoked. If they didn't, they inhaled copius second-hand smoke. Many drank, had no sleep.
Things were plain unhealthy back then, that's why Joe gets so much respect in my book.He rose above it all.:thumbsup The man even enlisted into the Army- I'm sure he could have dodged it somehow, like some actors, e.g., John Wayne, Cary Grant and others.
A 2008 in-shape Joe Louis, in the right environment, and proper training for the newer,stronger fighter, probably stops Wlad and others.
But he will be ill-equiped by the old standards, and lose to Wlad and the above-mentioned in these fantasy matchups.

 

this imo comes down to who can deliver their big shots first. with wlad's hand speed, size, jab, and foot movement, he has the best opportunity to do so. Now, if Joe can survive or outlast the onslaught he can knock out wlad with his devastating combinations.

 

Hahahaha at least the horlicks and pipe might be better than what you're on sonny. I would favour the guy that came to fight 15 rounds and to fight often with more people into boxing and more people to fight. Those were the days of the specialist trade. David Tua was a chump in the ring with a punch but no class, he took stick and move Lennox a full 12 rounds. Joe Louis had the skills and the punch to do a little better than Tua against Lennox or Wlad..... I think Joe gets inside and blasts off his powerful combos around mid fight, having said that once he's there its all over rover, both L & W had no stomach for a real fight. That figured when Lennox wouldn't rematch Vitali. Wlad is the same mould as Lennox.... a lion tamer with a stick and stool! :hi:

Well I suppose one needs to help the blind. We all know that any man with Good signt could see Louis Koing Wlad in pretty much the same way he did Schmeling. Wlad be lucky if he saw round 7.

 

Im surprised to see Zakmans name in there, hes usually knows his stuff. I still see a few nuthuggers like Sakura, Ruskull, Boxing Guru, making there love for Wlad known.

 

I pretty much amazing that Louis is so far behind the polls, its not even funny.

 

I hate when I have to give a fighter who isnt an ATG the edge over an ATG, but Wlad knocks out Louis...

Joe was AWESOME, but he was just not as fast, was a bit of a plodder(A brilliant stalker, but not one Louis opponent had a Wlad Klitchko jab) and a sucker for a 1-2 combination. Bad style matchup. Not to mention the much stronger Klitschko could smother Louis in a clinch if it even came to that.

Joe had mad heart, and would fight heroically, but Wlad stops him a bit earlier then Schmeling, cause he hits a bit harder. Joe just wouldnt be able to hide from the bad style matchup.

For the record, Joe Louis is the #2 heavyweight of all time and Wlad is lightyears from great.

 

You're simply irrational and think that since Louis is a "good ol' timer" that he beats someone bigger, stronger, and with every single advantage. You don't actually analyze the fight.

 

The truth can be painful to old fogies like you sometimes.

ANALAYZE THE GODDAMN MATCHUP!! NOT THEIR CAREERS!!

Louis ranks WAY higher on ATG status, but not head to head.
