What is the worst referee job you have seen?

    With all eyes in the boxing world turning to Montreal Canada, talk of the infamous Bute long count has popped up in several threads. Obviously, everybody from the announcers on Showtime to the casual fan thought that was a horrible job by the ref and a total sham. But, was it the worst referee job ever? Some will point to Richard Steele in Chavez vs. Taylor.

    The ref from Godoy - Abalos from a few days ago was worse then Marlon Wright. Not even close.

    That was just flat out pathetic on how the ref. officiated that bout! He should never ever officiate again!:patsch

    I had a feeling "Other" would win out. For me, the Bute fight was just so recent and an instance where a hometown ref decided the outcome in such a blatant manner. I actually agree with Steele, as far as the letter of the law.

    I know there was a long count in Dempsey vs. Tunney, which was a much bigger fight, but I don't think he was a hometown ref who had officiated several of Tunney's fights.

    Ottke vs Reid! And i would say that the ref in Ward vs Kessler was far worse than the ref that gave Bute the long count!

    Bute Andrade in their first fight... Worst case of blatant home town refferying I've ever seen. I was so pissed off I wanted to smash my tv.

    Tunney fight was no long count Dempsey didnt go to the corner as previously agreed upon and Tunney was on his knee at 6 or 7 and was ready to get up by 8 or 9 he stayed down knowing the ref wasnt counting

    Bute was up before 10 was reached that wasnt a long count

    Taylor didnt respond to Steele and Steele had no other option its his job to stop it for that what if Taylor did that at another point in the bout

    or should all fighters get special treatment with answering refs commands
