Has Anybody Actually Watched Ottke

Good Fighter, deserved about three to four losses to all the wins he had, but ultimately not a great fighter.

atsch you've made some pretty stupid comments in this thread, but this one tops them all. boxing is littered with fighters losing to people in the amateurs, but destroying them in the pro's.

cotto lost a few times to pinto, but DOMINATED and DESTROYED him in the pro's for the vacant WBO lightwelter title. he lost to abdullaev too, but DOMINATED and stopped him in the pro's.

bute was knocked out by a punch in the amateurs... but is undefeated in the pro's, and marked out as the NO.1 in the supermiddle division by most.

tyrell biggs beat lennox lewis in the amateurs, but wiped out in the pro's.

the list goes on and on...

DM was a very good fighter and big for the weight. he didn't lose until he was way out prime against gonzalez. with the style of ottke moving around the ring alot, he would of caused 1 or 2 problems for DM, but nothing more. he's a much better fighter than ottke, and would of had him out of there within 7 rounds.

 

Watched Ottke many times.
Ottke was very fortunate against Reid in my opinion, but that was Ottke when clearly at the end of his career when dipping in form. The ref was that real bad thing an that fight to me.
Ottke was a very good boxer mover and has a very good resume.

C Brewer the then IBF SMW champ for the title, beaten twice
G Johnson who went on to become the Ring & IBF LHW champ
S Branco who went on to become the WBA LHW champ
A Mundine who went on to become the 2 time WBA SMW champ
B Mitchell the then WBA SMW champ and 2 time WBA champ
R Reid the former WBC SMW champ and still world class
A Krajnc the former WBO MW champ
M Larsen world class who went on to become European champ
R Markussen world class who went on to become European champ
T Tate beaten twice
D Starie
J Butler

Ottke rematched a couple of fighters also to prove his wins were not flukes.
I dont know how people can call Ottke a stay at home fighter when you have Hopkins and Jones who wouldnt leave America. Ottke had no reason to travel as he was making good money at home and the challengers were right to go to him. The only opponents who would have had a point about Ottke not travelling were Brewer and Mitchell, and Im sure it was more beneficial for them to fight in Germany where there are big crowds.

There is alot made about robberies with Ottke which I think exagerated terribly.

 

Maybe an understatement. That amateur career just went on and on and on and on. A lot of people thought it was way too late for him to do much of anything in the pros. He'd represented at three different Olympics, I think.
