Groves definitely tired toward the end, but I can't see how you could give DeGale enough rounds to take that. Groves' movement was very much improved. He executed the game plan fairly well, landed more often and cleaner throughout the fight. Yes DeGale looks the more talented of the two, but there's a lot more to boxing than raw talent.

If Groves could go down a division it would be great.

It wasn't the talent that I'm really thinking of. It's how physically weak Groves is up close. He's going to get absolutely mullered against world operators. he can't hold a punch either. I'd back DeGale to hold his own better simply on this basis, regardless of the weaknesses he showed tonight.

Like I said, DeGale with a proper mindset coming into this fight instilled by a non-backslapping decent coach would have walked this. He should have been walking right up to Groves from the get go, it wasn't particularly hard to do. There wasn't a stinging jab in his face, or Bernard Hopkins type movement. It was just arrogance where he thought he's absolutely the better boxer and Groves can't win by doing that so he spent too much time pissing around trying to be clever. DeGale's always looked best in his fights when he's been putting on pressure not when he's been trying to box. Too much arrogance and poor tactics tonight cost him more than anything, I'm absolutely certain with the trainers reversed he wins this easily so its not the end of the world. He didn't lose by much and he didn't get hurt in the fight, his weaknesses just got shown up which is fine if they work on them.

When does the Pascal-Hopkins card start? 2 or 3?

Jim McDonnell said at ringside once 'it's all about levels', then why we let our top young fighters train with O.K level trainers.

To become a world class fighter, you need a world class trainer to go with your talent.

Warren should stop taking cheap short cuts and hire a top trainer for his top fighters, as you said DeGale should of been training over in the U.S with a top trainer after his first 10 fights, my man has a gold medal for ****s sake.

I think Roger or Floyd Sr would do a great job for DeGale.

On the the other note, Groves showed he can stick to a gamplan and Adam showed he is a good trainer, i was impressed how he made Degale look lost at times, but Groves still has a alot to improve he is still only 23, Degale is 2 years older at 25.

Yep, I had it 115-113 to Groves as well.

Degale was very uninspiring for most of the fight though. Close but clear, but considering the needle going in this will be a hard defeat to swallow IMO.

"George Groves knows. If you put a lie detector on his head, he knows he can't beat James DeGale"

An hour before the fight "this is an easy fight for James DeGale" said Jim McDonnell.

    :patsch

"Oh and we'll let them off of the bets", Adam Booth.

Just got back from the O2. Thought Groves won it easily. Surprised so many on here think Degale did.

Groves has heart but he is still just boy, he doesn't have that toughnes and unravels about as soon as he is hit with a hard shot. Whereas degale just walks through them.
