After the beating of Pascal, should Bernard go and tame another young lion in Nathan Cleverly and go and claim another title? I think Hopkins using his smarts to win a UD in this one, but one thing Cleverly has is a good chin and a high work rate (something which Calzaghe used to good effect) Pascal lacked any decent work rate and fought at Hopkins pace which suited Hopkins. Anyone like to see this one? The frame of mind Hopkins is in right now, he could possibly feel he could clean up now.
Cleverley would turn into a pavlik, I would prefer him to build up his title defences and get more experience
Cleverley is like Williams in that he is rangey but fights like a ****ing swarmer, but he's not as good at it as Williams. For me, Hopkins can deal with any style, it's not any particular style that is his kryptonite, it is speed. He has a bit of a problem with guys who can beat him to the punch, but not with any particular style, because Hopkins is so complete, he's equipped to deal with any style put in front of him. I don't think Cleverley is particularly rapid so Hopkins would probably just tee off on him and win comfortably.
I dunno thought Cleverly can set a serious pace. Hopkins at this age cannot operate at such a pace. It's only on this I give Clev a small chance. But It's a fight that intrigues me. CLeverly may not want it right now. But Hopkins ego may present him this opportunity and for him, would be thinking easy fight, let me go get another title and take away the 0 from this young up and comer. Could have it in the UK. The Hopkins world tour express lol.
Cleverly is no way ready for Hopkins at this point it would be too easy I wouldn't mind him schooling Cloud, im not that interested in a Dawson fight
clev reminds me off a not so well schooled calzaghe he lacks the ring experience or intelligence to beat hopkins
Clev's youth and workrate would help him a lot, but he's too inexperienced to be put in with a Hopkins.
Well he's a belt holder now, he's got nowhere to run and hide and the big players at 175 will of course be gunning for him. Warren can't dictate all his match ups from now on. There will be dangerous mandatory challengers for his strap. So like it or not, and by whatever means it has happened, Cleverly has arrived on the world stage.
I've only seen a few Cleverly fights so I may be wrong on this...even with Hopkins at 46 I don't think Cleverly is ready for him.
I think we get to see the bore fest of Hopkins-Dawson next, after all Dawson was in line next for Pascal, and I'm pretty sure he got step aside money to wait his turn. That's next I think, but Cleverly is not ready yet anyways, Bernard would have a hay day getting in that kids head.
