There's two things no one can now deny imo.

The first being that this truly is an amazing achievment by Hopkins. His longevity is incredible. I remember when Hopkins fought Taylor it was seen as the ageing vet who was at the end against the young stud who was starting out. It's funny because he's now out lasted Taylor.
I also think this shows he was in his physical prime against Calzaghe. It's just too hypocrytical to give him loads of credit for doing this and not fully acknowledge Calzaghe's win. A large part of his legacy has now come at LHW, a weight at which Calzaghe has beaten him. You could argue that he was in his p4p but there is no dought that that B-Hop would look better against De La Hoya, Trinidad, Taylor etc. Calzaghe was the more faded fighter going into that one having lost his power completely and having his punch resistance on the decline.
I won v-cash oe B-Hop last night and tipped him both times against Pascal.

You're a ****ing moron with an agenda. :deal

If you think Bernard getting tired and taking breaks at aged 43 was his "physical prime", then you obviously NEVER saw the man fight in the 1997-2001 time period.

    That is all.

    Terrible thread. :dead:dead:dead

    :rofl

A man who's been boxing his entire life is in his physical prime in his 40s.

B-Hop would have annihilated Calzaghe in his prime - there's also a reason Calzaghe wanted no part in a rematch.

If you want his physical prime see the Glen Johnson fight. (1997)

I agree, though, physically he didn't need to be perfect, he was never much of an athlete, his game was tactics and ringmanship, which peaked against Joe.

So the best Bhop, lost to the worst Calzaghe.

Thank god Bhop cowered from Joe in 2001, the yanks are bitter enough a bloated old, broken handed Joe beat the **** out of their own with the odds stacked in Bhops favour, imagine how they would be when a young Calzaghe exposed Hops glass jaw:shock::rofl:rofl

He wasn't taking any breaks or tiring against, Tarver, Wright, Pavlik or Pascal. It was Calzaghe who made that happen. His consitency is as impressive as Hopkins longevity. Hopkins resume at LHW is better than it was at middle. You can't have it both ways.

Hopkins right now is still in amazing shape and I know what your saying. Never talk about Calagze in here. People love there joey and his 46-0 to me just shows he retired on top but ducked lots of threats but didnt need to prove anything
