h2h a prime jones matches up greatly with various greats throughout history.
I think thats a fair statement considering how hopkins edged him on the atg list by resume and longetivity.
At this point they do deserve to be ranked near eachother.

I don't think there is much between Ruiz and Pascal as fighters. Pascal has a better win on his record than Ruiz does (Dawson), and a fat bloated James Toney beat the stuffing out of Ruiz at heavyweight, so I have no idea why people regard Jones outboxing Ruiz on the move so highly.

Hopkins was 46 and went to the guy's backyard, and outfought him over 12 rounds to take his title and become the oldest world title winner ever.

Lets not get too carried away here, pascal is a good fighter but he was also beaten by froch!! and froch is not the most skilled in the world, so a bit of perspective is needed i think but great achievment for his age, how the hell does popkins have such stamina for 46, i hope hes not juicing on somethink

Holyfield was done by the time he and Ruiz clashed. Any win over Holyfield in this century isn't worth much (and I'm a James Toney fan btw).

Toney did get busted after that fight, but Fernando Vargas and Shane Mosley getting outfought by Oscar De La Hoya have already shown us that "roids" don't turn you into some sort of unstoppable superman. Toney beat Ruiz up and shot down the theory that Jones had done something impossible.

The jump from 175 to 200lbs is much easier and much more common than the jump from 106 to 150lbs. That's ****ing obvious. Lightheavys have always made the journey up to heavy (Adamek & Tarver are doing it right now, before that there was Michael Moorer, Michael Spinks, etc etc etc).

No flyweight world champion has EVER won titles at welterweight.

Yes Jones has 2 wins Hopkins can't come close too and adding a long list of B LEvel opponents won't change that. The only thing Hopkins has on Jones is longevity because Jones 'only' dominated boxing for 10years

 

It's more like superstar Jones had a long night with a relative nobody (at the time) Hopkins. Prime Hopkins was about five or six years down the road.
