But is that fair though, I mean we dont hold it against ali or duran for going on too long and adding humiliating losses to their record.
People say we should only judge boxers on their accomplishments and not what happened when they are shot, jones is clearly shot for many years but he gets judged on his losses. I really felt bad for him yesterday, from unbeatable atg to knock out bum.
Jones and floyd are similair in many ways in my opinion, except floyd is smarter takes less risk and will not go on to long to end up like jones I believe, but at this point jones still has accomplished more than floyd. Floyd can definitely surpess him though with a few smart fights.

I'm just having fun with this thread bro..
(It's Sunday, Kinda hung over ect..)

I usually hate to participate in these "Rank" a fighter type threads because in the end it's all opinion anyway.

That said, I'll defend my Mayweather>Jones Jr. post by saying I like Floyd's style better & personally think he was a better rounded fighter than Roy.

PAC is for sure the greatest of our generation but Nard has jumped up on the list a lot over the last 3 or 4 yrs. Beating guys like Tarver, Pavlik and JP have taken his overall standing to higher levels.

Jones winning the HW title of the world keeps him in the mix b/c he had such a strong early career you can't over look it. The fact that Jones faded with age and Nard seemingly got better has to be taken into consideration.

It's easy to dismiss jones now b/c of suffering from what MOST boxers suffer from.....>Knowing when to hang up the gloves.

Floyd....he's undefeated... He's gotten some decent wins....but Floyd has failed to do what everyone else on the list has been able to do as GREAT fighters....

What's that you ask?? Roy, PAC and Nard have ALL made history in their own right. One way or anther they have etched their place in boxing history that will be remembered forever!

Floyd hasn't....Therefore Floyd is last on the list.

    PAC
    Nard or Jones
    Floyd

    Real talk...:good

Well pac has had a greater career so far. Flyweight - welterweight is amazing.

But i'd say hopkins is a greater fighter. To beat the best lightheavyweight in the world at age 46 is simply amazing and he did it in style.

For about 4 years hopkins was the premiere middleweight and since losing to taylor in the rematch he has lost only one fight by split decision and beaten some of the top boxers in the world. And whilst in his 40's. Tremendous.

If these guys finish off how I expect which is a couple more wins each I think pac will go down higher because he's more excitin, more dominant and has covered an amazing range of weights.

Both are gonna be top 20 guys imo.

Jones and floyd have some names missing from their resume that they could have beaten. Both top 50 for me.

    Pacquiao
    Jones/Hopkins

    (Chavez)

    (de la Hoya)
    Mayweather
    (Holyfield)

Included one or two names you mentioned with their careers beginning in the 1980's, and I do feel Oscar to be ranked over Floyd. I would include reasons why but I'm about to catch a taxi to the train station. I will give reasons when I get back of course.

Everyone has a right to their opinion and I've heard a LOT worse cases for who is considered GOAT. But PAC in my opinion isn't the greatest of all time. He's in the top 10 or top 15 for sure but #1???

I ROFL'd at this. :rofl :rofl :rofl

I think it's easy to figure out that what separates the three from FMJ is the latter's lack of history-defining accomplishment.
Skill-wise then he probably is miles ahead of the three.
But that's where it all ends: skills.

Michael Jordan won't be remembered for who he is if not of the "flu game", if not of the three peat(s), if not of the comeback(s), if not of the game winning shots, if not of the amazing awards, if not of the countless critics proven wrong.
There will never be another MJ.

It's quite easy to put Pac in the same light: "There will never be another Pacquaio."
I find it painfully difficult to put FMJ in that sentence.

    That's legacy right there.
Something FMJ can't leave behind because he lacks it.
