First off, I am no hick.. Secondly, take up your argument with two renowned judges, Harold Lederman, Emanuel Steward and the droves of others who saw a clear victory for Calzaghe.
Stop your boo hooey, your man lost, and Calzaghe is an ATG.
lASTLY, the guy in my avatar could utterly decimate you:good

How many were actually KOs though? Calzaghe has had so many premature stoppages in his "amazing" career and maybe not even 5 actual KOs

If Calzaghe ever fought Hopkins again, Hopkins would win unanimous decision.

You know Hopkins threw the least amount of punches per round in the Calzaghe fight than any other decision fight before or since, right?

    Why is that?

You hit on something. These posters that speak nothing but Boxrecese usually have zero ability to judge talent. That's most likely because they lack athletic ability themselves. Note the obsession with "resume comparison". Watch the fights. Talk about ability, talent -- if you can judge such things. If you can't -- if you're tone-deaf to talent, if you can't see it on the screen, then do us a favor and cut out the rampant Boxrec-ese and resume-comparing.

No, Calzaghe's win over Hopkins means nothing. Hopkins is a bum and has always been a bum, and has had nothing but gift decisions against C-grade opposition since he fought Calzaghe. And we all know Hopkins won that fight 120-107 anyway.

ESB has far too many boxrec analysts and (obviously) a de minimus number of boxing participants to allow for reasonable polling results and thread opinion.

While logistically impractical and financially impossible for most here, ESB's posters would look a lot different to each other if there was a sitewide athletic comp (taped/recorded) to allow everyone to SEE the number of clowns with strong opinions who actually have zero athletic talent. Just as you would on the court or field or in the ring you could weed out the scrubs - directly. There are far too many who endlessly jabber their viewpoint from their computer but obviously don't get in the gym, never played anywhere - at any level - in any sport - at any time, and have little basis for assessing athletes because they don't have a modicum of discernible talent or ability. A huge number of IDs could get shot down permanently and their posts could then be easily dismissed and ignored as coming from the (exposed) physically inept. The re-balancing that would come out of it would be beneficial in providing a site actually in step with the comparatively more accurate viewpoints and perspectives of those competing in athletics rather than being merely a collection of internet posters - with similar demographics - more interested in venting at a perceived target probably as a result of dissatisfaction with their own often young (and some middle aged) lives, their biases, and deep-seated familial bigotry which then sends many into a slash and burn environment or mentality in response.
