Heard a couple of different versions of the supposed blow up between officials at the show on Saturday night, but storys seem to be conflicting. One thing stands out though, all the controversy cropping up in Qld boxing lately appears to centre around one particular official. Any know what really happened. BTW just checked the record of the Thai oppononant in the paba fight!!!!!!!!!! FFS:-(
Pray tell DV , you've never been coy in the past about spilling the beans. Or has all the talk of lawyers and defamation on another thread made you overly cautious ? :hi:
Lawyers, defamation & bull**** has never bothered me. Just hot air when people can't handle truth. I'll spill the beans after I check on a couple of things. However, for time being, the whole thing kicked off due to appointment of a judge for PABA fight, who you might remember had a bit of a problem @ weigh-in on Dec 3 - Now well & truly history. Farked if I know why, when Nanakorn was never gonna last any longer than he did.
If it wasnt for blokes like you Anton alot of information would be supressed. Tip my hat to you and wish there were more people like you involved with boxing.
What I've heard is that the PABA supervisor, in a show of ego and chest puffing, decided to inform the officials at the last minute that the selected referee for the bout was unacceptable. To save the promoters show, the officials had no option but to change the ref otherwise sanctioning for the bout would be withdrawn. The promoter needs this sort of drama on the night:-( Highly unlikely the welcome mat will be rolled out in Townsville for him in the future but hey, congratulation Mr PABA Almighty, you achieved exactly what you set out to achieve. :happy More people pissed off, and more bridges burned!
Supervisor wanting to also ref so he could claim 2 pay packets, which he's well known for.....if he can get away with it, figured if he gets rid of a judge, appointed ref would take his place & he'd then take his. Unfortunately it did pan out that way, even tho he threatened to pull the plug on it, which was A OK by ANBF officials, figuring they might be able to catch last flight outta town Officials are allocated well & truly well in advance, so why bring up bull**** 2 hours before kick-off??
DV , BoxR only shows " Old Mate " as supervisor for the PABA bout . Doesn't mention him in the R&J's. Have they done a cover up ? Anyone got any info on Lightweight Lucas Wreighitt who beat Brent Elliott by UD over 6rds. His first pro bout was a 2nd round KO of Quinton Donahue. Age , amateur experience etc.
To date, he hadn't asked to be reinstated as Qld ref/judge & no-one is prepared to get down on their knees........now I dare say he needn't bother. Local judge/ref Chris Condon couldn't @ short notice make it, hence scoring ref & 2 judges in other fights
Who was the ref that he decided wasnt acceptable and what were the grounds for said ref not being acceptable?
only seen wreighitt fight once..think it was his last amuter fight and looked the goods then..think he had 50 or 60 am bouts in his early 20s and seems to be a strong super feather weight.
