Just an after thought but was just wondering who were the trainers that thought Groves could win?

To be fair a few like Maurice Coore and Poxon had it very close on points to Degale.

Matt Scriven and Chris Ashton had it for Groves, and after the punch he took against that ***** against Leicester Tigers Ashton should know something about chins

matt scriven - george is a tough, powerfull boy who'll have plenty of support behind him. i think he'll grind degale down and take him out in the later rounds.
chris aston - i dont think degale can keep him off. i see groves walking him down then breaking degale for a late stoppage.
some who got it wrong, enzo calzaghe, billy nelson, brendon ingle, bob shannon, gary lockett, joe gallagher, jimmy tibbs, anthony farnell, richie woodhall and james cook.

even aston and scriven got the game plan wrong. i think im one of the only people who felt groves movement would cause degale problem.

+Ben, ChristoDuran and a few others on here all picked Groves.

And, correct me if I am wrong but I seem to have read somewhere that although you thought it would be a close fight, Degale was ultimately your pick:good

I don't know, but I heard on 5 live that Carl Froch was the only one who picked Groves.

Fair play gasman, thats the closet ive seen to a prediction of how the fight would go down. I had Groves either beating him early or DeGale cutting Groves up late on to win a points decision.

I wouldn't put too much stock in predictions like that. Often people always pick the underdog. No one remember all the times they are wrong, but it gets talked about when they are right

Definitely if i say 1st round KO for the underdog everytime i would get it wrong 99% of the time but when i did it would look like a great prediction.

Groves can really pick the shots and is smooth on his feet. Degale looks solid offensively, but he hasnt been tested. This isnt as clear cut as the bookies have it.

For example, the media whores were hyping the Degale-Smith fight like it was going to be close, but it never was. Degale is in a different league.

Degale and Groves are in the same league, but Degale seems to hold an edge over most areas. I think Groves is capable of outboxing Degale and is actually a value bet to take it on points. I have been a fan (of his ability) of Degale for a while and I think he really can be something special, if he handles Groves convincingly tomorrow night, then it will be a breakthrough moment.

It is an intriguing fight, but the rest of the card is a joke.

Still, I am going to go with the underdog. Groves on points.

GOOD CALL GASMAN! was going to ask if anybody had foreseen how groves could win. several had given good accounts but they all seemed to involve groves being aggressive and forcing degale onto the back foot/ropes. nobody seems to have guessed the saturday night approach.it obviously completely wrongfooted degale!
one other question - almost to a man that pundits were saying that groves was not as good a boxer as degale and that he had a number of blatant weaknesses, the most damaging of which was his lack of defence and a basic lack of boxing skill/ability compared to degale. it seemed to me that on saturday groves completely disproved this. do you guys think groves was underestimated and actually had the ability in him , or has he come on leaps and bounds with the sparring he has done in the last few months.or did he actually fight above himself and degale helped to make him look better than he is?

while this is true i was still ridiculed for saying it would be close, degale is over hyped and groves movement would cause him problems.
