Agree, poll it. :happy Murray TKO10. :nono :yep (where the hell have you been in the nba thread, btw? our teams may be out, but ffs there are still big games to be played!)
Why the balls is everyone picking Mitchell? Cos he outboxed Prescott? Murray grinds him down and stops him late after some great early exchanges.
I have no idea in all honesty but it should be a great fight. The winner however doesnt get anywhere near winning a belt at lightweight imo.
I've picked Mitchell from the start. Never been impressed with Murray. The only issue is I don't know what mental state Mitchell is in and how things outside the ring will affect him. But I'll go with Mitchell UD
That's why it is going to be a great fight. Mitchell has his flaws, he can get drawn into a fight, but then again he can outbox a dangerous opponent. Murray is a workhorse and will be relentless, but he has no real pop in his punches and is a sitting duck to be outboxed. Neither man has really excelled against a top class fighter. If Mitchell has had a good camp and is applied I think he beats Murray.
For all the people picking Mitchell do you think he's gonna turn up 100% fit & focused then put in a great performance? Murray had a bad day at the office last time out but is a completely different animal to Kevin He is bigger, stronger, has a better chin & I dont think Mitchell will cope with the pressure for 12 rounds Murray by late stoppage
I would pick Mitchell but depends on what mental state he is in after all that gone on.. He could of done with a tune up ideally.
I'd say Gary Buckland is better than anyone Mitchell has beaten. Both have pretty padded records to be fair, Mitchell has obviously faced one fringe world class fighter but he was blown away inside three rounds. Neither have faced many particularly dangerous punchers, Katsidis for Mitchell and Thaxton for Murray.... At one point Mitchell looked a serious prospect but inactivity, poor matchmaking and personal troubles have kinda derailed him. I think we'll be surprised at the size difference between the two on the night as well. Mitchell made the mistake of believing that outboxing a journeyman made him a world class fighter, and paid dearly for it.
Mitchell has improved as a boxer. He can handle domestic sluggers like Johansson and Murray but he has now been shattered. The bubble has burst. Where is he at mentally and how does that affect his performance and even his ability and more so his chin. Chin can be alot to do with confidence. Maybe this is redemption for him. On the flipside Murray wants to prove he is world class. Beat Mitchell up and he can join the same company as Katsidis and get recognition. Quality scrap.
Mitchell on points. Murray is poor, no head movement, no footwork, walks in straight lines, slow. Easy to hit.
