After Hopkins cements his place as the oldest world champion of all time and a ATG.

Calzaghes victory over Hopkins will now be held in even greater esteem with the passing of time.

I agree. Even though Sir Joe has been retired for a number of years, his legacy becomes even greater.

Ive gotta agree there, Hopkins fought the fight he did against Calzaghe because he respected calzaghes skills, and knew he didnt stand a chanced squared up and toe to toe, its pretty simple when you think about it.

It does amuse me when people sugget that Calzaghe's legacy hasn't appreciated because of Hopkins success, but did take a hit when Kessler lost.

    Double standards to the extreme.

That being said, I do think Hopkins has surpassed JC these past few years. I used to argue to the contrary, but I'd be a mug to do so now. Total legend, no matter what you think of Hopkins.

In achievement I'd rank Hopkins way higher, but there's no questioning that Hopkins' victory this weekend has increased the greatness of Joe's victory.

Yep, fully agree. It was a fantastic and deserved win and those who try to discredit it have a shameless agenda. Joe should be loved and admired as one of the finest British fighters of the past 20 years.

Yeah Joe's win keeps looking better and better.

In terms of resume between the 2, there were alot of similarities for a while. Both dominated and unifed their weight class for 10+ years with 20 title defences.

Trinidad, DLH, Johnson and Tarver at LHW

Eubank, Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins at LHW

But clearly Hopkins has moved ahead with his recent outings with Pavlik and Pascal.

A great personal achievement for Hopkins doing it at his age.

Calzaghe was, is and always will be a great fighter. Hopkins and Kesslers accomplishments continue to help him where Jones and Lacy continue to become weaker wins :)

I just wish joe had fought pavlick instead of jones for his last fight. He would of schooled him like hopkins did and his stock would of gone through the roof! What a way to go out!!!
