Chad is more skilled no doubt, but Tavoris is stronger and hungrier. I see it as a tossup between Dawson by UD or Cloud by KO.
He's definitely the best pure boxer. Campillo and Sillakh are the only ones that really come close in terms of skill, and he's more athletic/talented than Campillo and more seasoned than Sillakh. The best pure boxer isn't always the guy who comes out on top, though. Intangibles matter, and intangibles are where Dawson's value comes down a bit.
Not just yet but I see Sillakh having a very very bright future. Ward moving up to 175 eventually (if he does) could also dominate the division. Bad Chad as well if he starts caring.
I've believed for a while that the talent pool at SMW is too deep. It has to be very tempting for someone from there to try their hand up at LHW. I just can't figure who. Obviously it wouldn't be AA. The others all look comfortable at the weight. If Ward takes Froch to school, then I can see Froch moving up after a year or two. Kessler might be getting to the stage where jumping up in weight makes sense for his body, but I can't see him making a splash. Ward or Dirrell could both do well. Dirrell could move up and make a shot at it - he seems reluctant to fight Ward anyway. I don't know if he has the heart to take on bigger guys though. I'm not sure which one it would be, still I wont be surprised to see one or more of the SMW make the jump and get into the mix within the next year or two.
Clev was hit as he stepped back, so the force of the punch was not there, but he did bounce back on to the ropes. I've not seen him in any distress in any fight yet. He does need to work on a better defence tho. He will eventually get clipped by a big puncher and he could be in trouble.
Cleverly or Sillakh - The others haven't got no game.... Pascal can't box for ****, has no stamina. Dawson never had it, overhyped cos he's from USA, scared to commit himself to his punches... Tarvoris is very limited and will get found out if he steps up against cleverly or the other belt holders.
I dunno if Bad Chad's value comes down but intangibles are key! I'll agree with you there. Pascal showed us that!
Hopkins needs to have one title defense then retire. He's pushing his luck saying he'll fight until he's 50 and is lucky the lt hvy division now is still growing. Cloud is limited but hits hard enough to trouble Hopkins though he isn't as wild as Pascal so Hopkins will see the punches better. The question is, how long can he cheat father time? We see he's declining but he needs to quit his delusions, have ONE more fight, then retire. I love Hops but if this was the late 70's-80's with Saad, Spinks, Qawi then he would have been smoked now. Hopkins needs to be realistic and retire while being on top though that is hard to do.
@InternationalButt Cleverly was not hurt in the 3rd round and took the punches , he was playing macho, he out fought the pole and had bloodied his face bigtime, the stop was premature but in no way suspicious as Cleverly himself was dissapointed too , but 2 or 3 rds more and it would have been all over for the poll ( btw the ref was American). Cleverly has a good jab when he uses it and a good straight right and his power is improving. Cleverly chose to fight Macho against Murat to prove a point and to get noticed. This last fight he also wanted to not disappoint the fans and also needed to prove a point having won the title due to braehmer pulling out. When Cleverly gets in the ring with the likes of Dawson or Cloud you`ll see a different guy.
