Haven't seen this mentioned too much but sparring with Dirrell must have really helped him in the Degale fight........

I remember reading that the DeGale-Clev sparring stopped earlier than scheduled because it got too heated

If he'd sparred with "PAUL BOOOTLIN!!!!", he'd probably have knocked DeGale out.

That doesnt surprise me, Degale is way too arrogant and up his own ass...and can now smell the taste of defeat...coudnt have happened to a nicer guy!

Groves has said he prepared for the fight as if he was fighting Dirrell because he does everything DeGale does but better.

The best fighters DeGale has been in the ring with are Cleverly, Barker & Groves.

The best 3 figthers Groves has been in the ring with are Dirrell, Froch, Kessler, Haye, Fragomeni.

Was George sparring Mikkel?? That must have been tough for a relative novice. But it did work wonders I suppose.

    Good point.

One thing thats came out of this is just how well Hayemaker have prepared Groves from the start - fights in Germany and the US, fights on PPVs and in front of large crowds early, extremely tough sparring which will of kept him on the ground and motivate him, title fight very early. This prep has been a level above Degale's even though hes with supposedly the best in the business - Warren

Theres an old interview of his off Buncey's show saying how the Super Six tournament was brilliant timing for him because it ended up in him getting sparring all other the place with Froch and Abraham. He has also done a few weeks with Spada who as barker found out is a very tough fighter.
