1) Ruiz-first man in about a 100 years to accomplish this feat
2) Hopkins-in their primes he dominated the fight
3) Toney-another ATG owned by RJJ in the ring
4) Tarver-weight drained and 70% of what he use to be he still wins the first fight
5) Castro-dominated by RJJ early in his career

 

Pretty ****ing tame list when you write it down aint it.


The twenty best wins list is a who's who of nineties new york traffic enforcers and sanitation engineers.

 

This. Not to mention decent fighters like Telesco, Johnson and McCallum.

When you add names like McCallum, Johnson, Hill, Gonzalez, Woods and Sosa, I think Roy has a pretty good resume.

 

Jones was a fraud..... he beat Hopkins and Tony but it was nothing to brag about

He couldn't KO them.....

And Ruiz? Roy was juiced up and played punch and run

That's pretty damn true actually. Calzaghe's resume always seems to get shitted on he's not far off Roy, at all.

 

Agreed! Roy cleaned out divisions and no one was close to him for years. It is a shame that his late performances are gonna tarnish all he accomplished. In total I think he defeated about 20 current or former world champions. How many guys have ever come close to that?

I am not saying he was the greatest of all time, but he was pretty damn good and deserves his due.

 

Considering that Samuel Peter,Evander Holyfield and Hasim Rahman couldnt KO James Toney,that a pretty ******ed comment.

In that order for me. He damn near cleaned house at lightheavyweight bar one man. And to have victories over top ten guys from middleweight to heavyweight is tremendous in itself.

 

This bs about middleweight - heavyweight first guy in 100 years is crazy... A handful of people have done the same over the last few centuries. Langford, greb, walker, charles, burley(i think) and others... Hopkins was ranked about 8 and ruiz about 4. Others have done the same people need to look beyond trinkets. Amazing achievement without hiding behind the bs.

 

Toneys had to lose like 50lbs in 6 weeks to make the 168lb limit and 24 hrs after the weigh in he put on a massive 18lbs LOL.

I think Hopkins was his best win.

 

What divisions did he clean out?:huh

 

Some people on this forum are plain deluded. RJJ was virtually untouchable and beat 2 boxing legends in their PRIME, clearly, along the way. What exactly do people want him to do? Maybe cure cancer or bring peace to the middle east? Just try watching his fights in his prime and you'll see how far ahead he was from everyone else. Simular to the way Floyd and Pac are dominating elite fighters today.
