Vitali is getting slower and slower but he still has a high punch output and hes just too big for Adamek. No wonder Light heavyweights dont win heavyweight titles all the time.
Body punching will be Adamek's most effective asset imo. He's also developed this technique when he goes to the body where when he jumps in to throw 1 or 2 body punches (often a left, right uppercut to the body) he gets very close, tuck his chin, and has his head outside the opponents left shoulder (almost like the top of his head is resting near their shoulder) which smothers their ability to land a counter punch particularly the left hook. He did this alot vs Arreola and it virtually eliminates any counter chances when he goes to the body, it's beautiful.
I don't understand all this slowing down nonsense. Vitali countered the fast handed Solis, pretty quickly. Don't see anything to suggest that Adamek is going to be faster....
I think it's an interesting fight because vitali is very quick on his feet for a heavy weight and has a good enough chin to catch arm punches from vitali without wobbling. And he can move all 12 rounds, so he will not give vitali a chance to load up on punches. that said, i think at best he can make it closer than most of vitali's fights but still lose a decision 4-8 maybe 5-7 if he's really on fire. as a side note-- their fists seem to be about the same size. interesting
Its a delusional though. Hes 38, he is not gonna change his style in between fights, he is what he is a plodding along arm throwing skyscraper.
I was thinking the same thing, about Adamek going to the body early & stay there for the 1st 5 rounds or so. But while he's doing so, he has to be aware of Vitali's head position, so when it comes time to start going upstairs, hopefully he'll be able to find his chin. Adamek needs to work his ass off in training for this fight, & I'm sure he's willing & able to do so. Bloodworth needs to come up with a plan different from Adameks fights with Grant & McBride. He needs to get Adamek to bob & weave, so Adamek can get in safely from a low position & explode up into Vitali, the way Tyson would use his legs to get power behind his punches. Man, this isn't gonna be easy for Adamek. He's gonna have to have an "S" on his chest on Sept. 10th if he wants to win. (((((((((GO ADAMEK)))))))))) :bbb
He was always capable of sitting down on his shots see Sanders, Johnson, Williams, its only been for a few fights since he came back that he got awa from it but even in the Briggs fight you can see he got back to it a bit more. He's 40 now i think.
Yes, after Briggs lasted 12 rounds Vitali has said he was then working on changing his punching style to bring more of his old KO power back. He may or many not have implemented an increase in power, cause, well, he knocked Solis out too fast........... This should be a good fight, while it lasts, though. Adamek is very fast and very tough, so I think he'll give a good account of himself, but I do see him falling or being TKOed by round 8 or 9.
