Why did Margarito get his license back and not Panama Lewis?

    1) Panama Lewis is a trainer, Margarito is a fighter. Fighters do no wrap hands, trainers do so they are the ones to charge criminally
    2) Lewis REMOVED from the protective part of the gloves, Capetillo just added an extra gauze pad to Margarito's already wrapped hands which contained traces of plaster of Paris but never was a hard part or something, then it was removed
    3) Margarito never entered any fight with loadad gloves, not that we know of, commissioners, trainers checked all of his previous wrappings and found no irregularity
    4) Capetillo stated under oath that Margarito knew nothing about the extra pad, Antonio said the same
    5) Any evidence like Cotto being beaten up badly is no real evidence of past wrongdoings, Pac bloodied Cotto even more, damaged wrapping photo is also no evidence, it happens all the time
    6) Margarito didn't complain, split with Capetillo, served his time, hired the new coach and moved on

So knowing these facts... why the hell would anyone put Panama Lewis, that cheating criminal scumbag and Margarito of the real world (not the one inside your head) in the same sentence? I think that's insulting.

Right there it was his opponents trainer that found them ..Thus putting the credibility of the commsions into question ..Just because they didn't find the illegal wraps before that doesn't mean he never used them ..Either they didn't know what to look for or looked the other way !

And just because his trainer took the fall that doesn't make Cheato any less guilty ..

    Basically what Jack said above.

Margarito was banned for evidence found prior to a fight, that showed his pads to have some kind of abnormal substance.

He was given a year ban, that was prolonged, because despite evidence that his pads were not normal, there was also: A) Not enough evidence to suggest exactly what it was and, B) No evidence (if anything evidence that suggests otherwise) that Margarito himself knew about the substance.

If what was found was plaster, Margarito would have come nowhere near the ring, the commissions would have ensured that. If they saw anything that suggested Margarito himself was in any way culpable, the same would have happened.

For those comparing this situation with Resto, re-assess. Resto battered Collins with his bare fists encased in leather, and knew about it. Resto had never done such damage before. It was clearly abnormal and illegal.

Margarito was found before a fight, having offered himself to be re-wrapped, to have elements of things found in plaster of paris, but not plaster of paris itself, lining his pads. This called into question some of his prior wins, but before he was even trained by Capetillo, he stopped Sergio Martinez in brutal fashion, and often did the same to other opponents. That takes away the argument that he almost certainly used the same pads in all of his prior fights.

The only thing the two cases have in common are the fact they were both to do with the hands of boxers, and that they were illegal for the sport.

What the difference between shooting a cop and shooting a cop a missing. The answer is the same amount of time. I didn't say Panama was any angel but neither is Margarito. Both denied any involvement BUT who wouldn't when you career and freedom is on the line. Some suspect Margarito used loaded gloves before but just happen to get caught against SSM. Also, I didn't know Arum was the promoter of Collins so that makes everything seemed more obvious now. Double standard on Arum's part...hmmmm.

Lewis denied they did anything wrong. Capetillo said "whoops, I ****ed up sorry about that."

All three Lewis, Margarito and Capetillo are all in the same boat. In Margarito case the INTENT was there.

Resto got banned because he knew what they were doing to him and he went into the ring anyway. If they caught Margarito afterwords he would have been banned for life and probably charged with assault.
