I loved rooting for the guy. His fights had a certain aura about them.

Not really, mainly for the fact I'm glad he knew when to hang them up.

But to contradict myself, I would like to see Hopkins vs Calzaghe II now :yep

    I do!

He had so much in the tank when he retired, I felt like he left me hanging

I do miss him, but he was already old when he retired so I could understand. I loved watching him just rain on his opponents every minute of every round.

I miss his fights, yes. BUT, he knew he was past his prime, was getting hit more than he'd ever been hit, and that his hands were shot. He is one of the very, very few who had the IQ enough to realize it was time to exit.

Calzaghe was well past his best and suffering with bad hands when he retired.

I think America misses Calzaghe more than anyone else, as so many wish he had of been beaten and wanted him to stay around even further past his best, in a bid for him to lose.

    America misses Calzaghe

Its been talked about all over the boxing world since about 10 seconds after the scores were read out at the end of the last one.

Joe was a great boxer to watch i would never want him to retire but every boxers time comes to an end.

The calls for a rematch were just boring to me, the 1st one was bad enough, usually made by Hopkins and frustrated Hopkins fans and it virtually sounded like they wanted Calzaghe to avenge his victory more than Bernard avenging his loss.

Lol @ America misses Calzaghe. Why would they miss him exactly? He didnt exactly set the states on fire with his fights.

Bottom line is he was a great champ who left boxing at the top. No need for him to drag it out and turn into another RJJ.......

His punching technique made me gringe everytime he fought so no.
All credit to his accomplishments etc but 1 of the worst fighters to watch for me.

(purely a personal preference before his hugger brigade attacks me)
