Round 3: Better start to the round for Smedley. He's making Wright miss more and landing a few more of his own. Wright's corner tell him to stick behind the jab but he's not landing it with the regularity he was previously. Improvement from Smedley. 29-28 Wright.
Even round 3 where Jim is claiming an improvement in Has...sorry Smedley's work...he lost the round there. The most meaningful punches were 2 left hands and a solid jab to the face of Smedley, 2 of which he walked right into.
Round 4: Wright is feinting more than in the 3rd and picking his punches better. Smedley's poor defence is letting him down again this round and it's not giving him any opportunities offensively. Wright cut on his nose. More like the first 2 rounds here with Wright winning it clearly. 39-37 Wright.
The young man is getting a bit of a lesson here. You have to run before you can walk. He hasn't learnt how to fight at mid range or up close. He hasn't learnt a jab. Or how to put punches together properly. It's all a bit off the cuff and random.
I've got 3-1 for Nigel. 3 & 4 were closer than 1 & 2 (gave Smedley the third for defending well against virtually all of Wright's attacks except for that stupid combo to the face while lingering at point blank range). Could be a momentum shift in the making, or just a brief lapse in effectiveness by the champion.
