What do you mean Floyd doesn't have offensive gifts?

It can work. You need to understand what I am saying. He can fight a quick thinking chess match with Manny. Range is going to be very important and Floyd has the foot speed and reflexes to do it. As soon as Manny over extends he will get caught with 1, 2's and maybe even that 3rd punch. As soon as he tries to come back with something Floyd will be working that damn jab again. Hopefully we find out and they all stop the bull**** games.

With Floyd's style it most likely will not be as exciting as the paying public would demand.

Jabbing and staying on Pacman fighting from ringpost to ringpost like Erik did is the key. Potshotting will work, especially in the first rounds, but once Manny starts putting his own pressure trying to counter with his right and work his way in using footwork and angles, you better get outta his way or get ready to lay down some serious leather. A bodyshot on Pacman especially in close quarters would hurt him bad. Hatton threw he left hook way too open without setting it up; Floyd with his check left hook is something for Manny to worry about especially coming in. It'll be Floyd's check left hook/lead right vs Manny's Manila Ice right hook/straight left. Anyone's fight.

What about Manny's defense against Floyd's offense? Floyd has the ability, skill, and brains to disarm Manny. Does Manny have the defense to neutralize Floyd's offense. Manny has fast feet and so does Floyd. Floyd has the best foot work in boxing which he can use to take angles away from Manny.

I undestand what you are saying. When Manny over-extends, Floyd will counter with 1, 2's, no doubt about it. Marquez did it succesfully but he ate leather while doing so because Manny throws punches in combinations.
Floyd's fast jab might put Manny out of range. But Pacquiao showed in the Cotto fight that he can precisely time a jab and lured in with the staight-left.
It's clearly a chess match. They both have solid arguments to make a very interesting fight in the tactical sense.

Well said. The difference with Floyd and Cotto is that Floyd is faster with his hands and Floyd is not flat footed plus Floyd is athletic. I see a UD 8 rounds to 4 for Floyd in this fight. Manny has a punchers chance. Floyd will not be b.s.ing around with Manny and will bring his A+ game. He does have the defense to take away Manny's right hand and make him depend on that left hand.

Some great tactical posts. I think the main tactic that will allow FMJ to win is that he won't try and finish Pacquaio like Cotto did. Cotto was trying to hurt Pacman instead of outbox him and got blasted instead. FMJ knows the risks of trying to finish a dangerous opponent and will be content to win by decision if the opportunity to win by KO doesn't present itself.

Floyd will stink it out to try win on points, like he always does.

It will only get interesting if Pac knocks him down, or he is down on points from inactivity and has to take the fight to Pac.

I think he will with Manny bc Manny is not slow at all and Floyd is going to have to make him pay and Floyd will be deadly accurate against Manny. I think most people that are just casual fans will be shocked at how Floyd's jab ****s with Manny and offsets him. That right left right combo that Manny lunges in with is going to get him ****ed up. He better come with something else.

Manny took only 2 rounds to completely adjust to Cotto's well regarded jab. You can expect Manny to do the same to Floyd's (it may take longer though).
About athleticsm, Floyd is not getting any younger. If the two ever meet, Floyd will be at least 35 or 36 (Manny 33, 34).
Floyd fought flat-footed against Mosley and Pacquiao didn't cut the ring well against the same opponent. Are they getting old? Maybe. But one thing is certain, their conditionning will have an important factor in the outcome of the fight.

In conclusion, there are so many variables in this fight that predicting its outcome would be the same as predicting the weather 2 weeks in advance.
I wonder how the bookmakers will evaluate the odds.

intriguing fight regardless of the outcome, due to the level of the fighters and importance of the fight.

I think people give too much credit to Mayweather defensive skills and ability. The guy has skills no doubt but he has been caught against guys like Judah, Mosley i.e. Athletic guys who can catch you with a quick shot. I see Manny catching Mayweather, hurting him, and Mayweather shying away, comfortable in losing a decision rather than being knocked out trying to win - wait that sounds like some of Pacquiao's recent opponents.

I think stylistically, Marquez/Morales were the type of guys to give Pacquiao most trouble because of the fire they possessed and willingness to fight fire with fire. They threw punches in bunches retaliating against Pacquiao's attacks. I don't think Mayweather can fight that kind of fight without getting hurt.

It will be anticlimatic in the sense that this fight has been in huge demand for 2 years now and there is no way it can live up to the hype, its already past the peak interest in it, Mayweather will win a decisive UD and people will say pac was past his best.

remember the huge hype dlh vs mayweather had and the actual fight was a let down, its hard to live up to that kind of hype with mayweathers style
