if roy jones continues to fight, how about working with emmanuel steward?

Roy's so shot it's sad to watch. Yes there are fighters out there he could beat. But I fear the long term cost to his health is going to be tragic.

If only it could provide big enough purses for them both to retire.

At his current mental and psychological condition, Roy Jones Jr. is better off working with a neuro-surgeon and clinical therapist rather than with a boxing trainer.

Too late, can't teach an old dog new tricks. Roy learned the game and was at his best when he made all the wrong things work for him. The problem is that he no longer has the athletic ability to get away with it, and has to resort to using a more conventional approach. Roy fighting in a more conventional style is average at best, and considering how susceptible he is to getting hurt and knocked out, probably makes him less than average at this point. either way, I'm sure getting laid out cold ain't good for anyone's long term health. I'm not sure what else there is for him to prove; he's proved how good he could be when at his best, but he's also proved how deteriorated he is at this point and that he's only declining more with each fight.

he need to fight guys like.............

    enzo maccarenelli
    silvio branco
    darnell wilson

matt godfrey, and thats almost pushing it...

As for trainer..... i think i know the guy...

John Scully.... A guy that knows Roy from their amateur days, and while Roy is still in the business, Scully is training fighters... He did bring up Chad Dawson... So I think that could be a match that will work until he retires...

roy is 42 and getting older....no he can not get better...no matter who trains him....you people have got to look at his recent record and age and even though his name is still "roy jones" that isnt the roy jones of 2000

    2nd thought.....

John David Jackson.... @iceman I agree that Roy can never be better than what he once was... However, John David Jackson was able to extend the career of Randal Bailey... Bailey is now in line, again, for a title shot... Randal was suppose to be done when Cotto stopped him.... But Jackson was able to work with Bailey and get him into position for a another title shot... Urango stopped him and we thought it was over again... But now Bailey is back in position... If he can work his magic on a guy like Bailey, then he can get something out of Roy Jones... Just enough... to get a Cruiserweight belt...

He only needs to sit next to Stewart as an announcer to work with him ..Thats as far as it should go .

    interesting post:think
i also think that jones may find effectiveness with adaptions to his style. i must agree to what has been said, its hard to say if he should continue due to possible health problems.

You can't train a Glass Jaw. It has nothing to do with him being shot the guy simply can't take any kind of punch.

Doc Brown Marty McFly and Emmanuel steward would all slap Roy in the face, sadly that won't stop him....I think he's going to fight again! I always liked Roy but I can't imagine what goes through his head at night when he's lying in bed trying to get to sleep - "yeah I'm guna move back up to heavyweight & take that IBF Title off Holyfield" :D

While Steward is a genius trainer, Ole Roy is just too far gone. He could last all fight but one slip up, and goodnight he goes in the last 5 seconds. Bobble Head will be displayed again.
