Uh what loss was Williams coming off of, and where exactly was he if not top 10 P4P? Also, I'm pretty sure Martinez isn't going to find many hall of famers around middleweight at the moment...
the man is an unreal boxer and shows up in the best shape a boxer can come in and you call him hype? get real man
do you have to beat an atg to be ranked #3 in the p4p list? and williams was wasnt coming off a recent loss. you do not know what you are talking about. it was martinez coming off to a recent loss, to williams himself. end of story.
Sergio Martinez hypeJob? best 160 in the game and he would do good at 168. Martinez would beat bute and kessler i think. You british only love british fighter and **** the the best in the game. by the way he Koed cintron if you watch it and the ref ****ed up. I dont know what fights your watcing but martinez is ****ing amazing and he keeps getting better
Funny you mentioned Pac and Floyd because if nothing else they're the ones who appear overhyped when we consider recent success. What have they done lately? Both guys won't put themselves in dangerous fights. That's the difference between them and Sergio right now. Same goes for Donaire and to a certain extent Khan. And please, cut it out with shaming Sergio for "picking" on smaller fighters. It's clear the guy is on a mission and he just wants guys with a lot of name value. I guarantee you he'd fight Chavez Jr. in four to five months if given the chance but that's not likely to happen is it? Besides, since Sergio has been getting a lot of attention, why aren't any middleweights calling him out?? Another thing - beating a "smaller" fighter who's considered special and still in his prime isn't necessarily easier than defeating a "bigger" guy who was old and weight-drained (Oscar DLH). I'm no expert but I've been watching boxing for a long time and my senses tell me Sergio would have a harder time with Pacquiao than Manny when he fought Oscar. It's insane when the consensus belief is Pac and Floyd can beat pretty much anybody at 154, especially Margarito and Cotto. But the moment Sergio wants a fight at that exact weight class, all of a sudden he's too big, especially for Pac. And the world cries foul play.
Dzinziruk is a junior middleweight and has never fought at middleweight. ^ People never mention this. Double standards, got to love them. And yes, Martinez lost a close war to Paul Williams. I do think Martinez can be no lower than 4th on any sane P4P list (Pacquiao, Mayweather, Donaire). But to have him above Pacquiao for any reason or above Mayweather for any reason other than Mayweather's inactivity would be stupid. Martinez has gotten over hyped in the sense that people think he could do battle and hold his own with all time elite middleweights. Obviously those people forget: Sergio Martinez is 3-1 as a middleweight (enter average ESB poster's tone: "and three of those four opponents were junior middleweights!!!").
After putting Williams in a coma, I have to say I don't think anyone can stand up to the marvelous one.
For me the most impressive win (and performance) was against the very underated World Champion Sergey Dzinziruk.I used to think that he was a bit overated but that fight definitivley open my eyes.
