margarito isn't in any position to fight floyd, especially coming off a loss now. he would get pot-shotted all day.

once he went into talks about fighting oscar, he didn't feel the need to fight a "sparring partner". may not make sense to fight fans, but to a dude with a big ego, it makes all the sense in the world.

winky? wtf. dude, you are smoking crack. didn't winky just fight b-hop at 170? wtf are you asking from a dude who started his career at 130? give floyd a break.

cotto. he will fight cotto. he just needs cotto to be a little more built up. floyd cares more about his legacy than satisfying the fans. he fought hatton because hatton is worshipped in the UK, and a major, major contender in his weight range. floyd has had only 3 fights at 147, compared to hatton's 1 at the time. the weight excuse is pretty damn annoying.

casamayor? he doesn't need to fight him. it isn't ducking.

    Stupid question.
Champions should not go thru every top 10 contender in their division.
It should be the contenders who should box off with each other to see who is the most worthy of a championship fight.
Besides --- Floyd only fights mega-big money fights.
His opponent most be big money material to max out pay per views.

He's currently considered by ring magazine as the 4th best welter in the world. Is there something wrong with that? Fair enough, if it's a straight choice between Margo or Cotto/Mosley/Williams, well it's not a choice really is it?

But then again, would you prefer as a Floyd fan to see him fight ODLH again? Or maybe Malignaggi?

Mayweather has 2-3 years left of his physical prime. You can equate that to maybe 6 fights. As it stands now, Margo should be one of those fights.

As opposed to the $10,000,000 million he made (counting the ppv profits) and the linear championship. Yeah he should have made LESS and fought margs who you then would have said, "he avoided Baldomir"..

    Meritless thread.

Or he could of fought both and made $18,000,000?? Then no one could say he ducked Baldomir or Margo.

wrong. the champion should fight the number 1 contender. and then whoever moves up to numbaer 1. taht garbage about only fighting only big money fights is b.s. champions should defend their titles against the most worthy oponent. either that or retire.

So after fighting Baldo, he should've fought Margarito for 8 mill instead of Oscar for 20+ million?

You forget. He fought Baldomir in November and margarito fought Clottey in December where after the fight he claimed an injury. Btw those fights were signed in July...

Additionally, the DLH vs. Mayweather fight was signed in December, so tell me when these two fights could have occurred???

Let the numbers decide and we will se if it is meritless based on the story they tell. Don't get mad everyone will vote and we will see, right now the #'s are close some it must carry some merit.

    ;)

How do you decide who the number 1 contender is?

don't try to rewrite facts to suit your argument. pbf was offered 8 million, when he did not step up and accept the offer, that is when the clotttey fight was signed. he tried to make a fight with spinks first, and then made the fight withh baldo. don't try to make it look like he had a choice between baldo or margarito in front of him at the same time.

Yes, it's all about timing really isn't it. But were all waiting to find out what FMJ is doing next. If he fights Cotto, Mosley, Williams all well and good. But if he blatantly fights another LW, then some of the critiscism will be well founded.

All i'm trying to say is the man should be fighting the best available contenders. Margo is one of them, title or not, £8mil on the table or not.
