If Froch beats Johnson and Ward, he'll go down as the greatest British boxer ever...

To be Britains greatest ever he would have to beat a few names at Light Heavy too in my opinion.

If Froch beats Johnson, he will knock SOB Ward out!!! Froch has an excellent chance of winning it all, but Johnson is still dangerous!

Calzaghes Kessler and Hopkins win still rank above what Carl has done. At the end of the day it should really come down to who you beat otherwise Mayweather and Jones would be considered the best by many. Maybe they are the best but guys like SRL proved it.

Froch has to beat Johnson, Ward and Kessler. Froch is haveing A+ fights but he also needs a super fight.

Calzaghe and Hopkins were special fighters when they fought. You still feel that Froch, Ward etc are showing they are special. Maybe by the time Froch vs Ward happens people will have that feeling that they are watching 2 irrefutable greats.

Fat Mick denied Froch the chance of a Calzaghe fight by holding him back so that it was never an economically viable fight while Joe was still around. H2H Calzaghe all day long but you can't argue with the streak of fights Froch is now on and I feel sorry for him that he's having to cram them in to the time he has left, especially considering the way he fights. Ranking fighters is always difficult - resume or H2H ?? By the time Froch finishes he could very well have a resume to compare with any ex Brit's. Would certainly love to see him take Ward apart, and then Joe's desire to leave Frank and fight Jones Jr last instead of Pavlik will look a comparably worse decision. Because really Joe should've been the one putting an even bigger caning on Pavlik and getting the credit that Hopkins now deservedly gets for it. Dawson would also have been an easy night's work given his stamina issues and was also undefeated at the time. Still economics and boxing...

Froch in my opinion overtakes calzaghe .calzaghe can only say kessler and eubank were good wins 4 him.lacy was a overhyped yank, hopkins should of got the win and jones been ko 2 of last 4 fight b 4 that.and still dropped him.froch has gone 2 america beat tayler who also schooled hopkins in there rematch, went denmark 2 unlucky lose 2 kessler ,desroyed abraham in finland.beat a future star in dirrell and had a classic war v pascal.2 me froch has been more exciting and had better opposition.

Calzaghe could end this debate and comeback and slap Froch silly for a 120-108 Decision.

    Thats correct Gaz.

Lets stop all this childish nonsense - Froch was calling him out.

I remeber when Holyfield was World Heavyweight Champion. And someone informed him manager that

"Roy Jones Jnr - is calling Holyfield out - he wants to fight him !!!"

And Holys manager responded with - "so do alot of men in bars":lol::nut:nut

Calzaghe had no real need to fight Froch.

Calzaghe proably knew Froch was a tough challenge - but no real incentive to take the challenge.

Of course that means Calzaghe ducked him - was scared of him, etc, etc. :patsch

Calzaghe had already cleaned up at Super middleweight - Jeff Lacey - Mikkel Kelseer, etc.

There is always going to be a upcomer - another challenge - who you dont fight - who he is running from.

If he beat Froch - then he would have been running from Pavlik - if he beat Pavlik then he would be running from.........etc...etc...etc

Calzaghe closed out his career - as he always said he wanted - moving up to become Light Heavyweight Champion.

I think he mentally relaxed after the Kelseer fight.

Up until - he was knocked down in the 1st round against Hopkins - and that served him right - he realised then he was in a real fight - I really think - he took Hopkins lightly - up until that 1st round knockdown - then he got his ass into gear.

The Roy Jones Jnr fight - despite that ealry knockdown - was clearly a exhibition fight from start to finish though.

The RJJ fight was effectively Joe's retirement fund. Forget that. Froch wouldn't have brought the same money.

Joe's last proper fight was against Hopkins in April 08.

In May 08 Froch fought the Pole Rybacki who was coming off a two year retirement.

    Froch was never viable.

    Calzaghe beat............

Eubanks = shadow of his former self...on a par with the RJJ win
    Robin Reid = gifted
Bryon Mitchell = Who? Only claim to fame is getting the shitty end of a split against Otke
    Mikkel Kelseer = Good win
Jeff Lacy = Looked good at the time, but in retrospect....
Sakio Beker = Highlight a draw against Beyer
Charles Brewer = Highlights being losing two splits to Otke and retiring an old and way past it Graham
    Bernard Hopkins = Gifted
    Roy Jones Jnr = Corpse

Thats the whole problem with Calzaghes career...its all woulda, coulda, shoulda. A boxers record should be decided in the ring, be definitive and not be based wholly on the subjective opinions of fight fans.

Why did JC wait until RJ Jnr was a corpse before getting through the ropes with him?

No chance. I love Froch but he still has a long way to go. Froch will know that himself.
