I saw him fight Aussie Nedal Hussein and wasn't blown away.

I saw the Ledwaba fight on the DLH/Castillejo undercard, but it was the Barerra fight where I was like "Woah!"

    Good post,

There have been so many boxers that were born with great phiscal gifts that did not train hard enough, did not bother to learn the fundamentals, did not listen to their corner and strive to learn and get better, like Benitez, Zab.

Then you have guys like Bernard that were not blessed with the talent of others but he got himself good trainers and became a gym rat and became a great boxer.

The differance with Pacman is that he is both (now), all the stars alighed for Pac, for all those boxers that have the what if's, been more deadicated, had a better trainer, been matched well. Then we have Pacman, who for me there are no what if's.

The top three guys are Pacman, Bernard and Floyd, all gym rats, it's just that Bernard was not as blessed and Floyd does not have the resume that Pac has.

The Lucero fight. Lucero was supposedly friendly with Marco or being managed by him or something. I remember being apprehensive b4 the first MAB fight because I knew he was a terror, and I didn't like MAB making that fight. Turns out I was right.

People don't seem to remember this, but Manny had a lot of hype even then and was considered as a serious star in the making. Marco said he gave Manny the shot because Manny reminded him of a younger version of himself. I was mad for the longest time because Pacfans were giving MAB a raft of **** instead of appreciating that he took the tough fight when he definitely didn't have to.

    Late 1995.

Was living in Asia from around '93 to late '97.

He was on a few telecasts in '95, '96, & '97 out of the Philippines (I watched on Taiwanese television/cable and from Hong Kong) in which there were multiple fighters/fights on the bill (and I don't recall him headlining - nothing like that at that time - just another fight on the bill). But, he was the only one that left an impression - though, it was more of something intangible in him than anything else. Though he had some comparatively better qualities than the other fighters - no one would have envisioned him (he was so small and scrawny) getting all the way to 147 and mega super stardom.
