Your Uni will almost certainly have a boxing club.

If you dont mind a half hour drive there is a decent boxing gym called Hook and Jab in Warrington.

    http://www.hookandjab.co.uk/

I've not long started there and im finding it to be alot better than the first one that i tried out in runcorn.

If you dont drive the train will take you to within a 5 minute walk of it if you go from liverpool lime street to warrington central.

Forget about going to the Uni's boxing club, Liverpool has too many great gyms to waste your time at a Uni.

Now for me the best gyms in liverpool are the Rotunda, the solly and Everton Red Triangle.

Must say I am biased and say that the Rotunda "Home of Champions" is the best place to go. I used to fight for them myself when I was at Uni there last year. Seriously mate the gym there is unreal! They have every piece of equipment you would ever need.

Seriously there is some pride in that gym. A quick walk into the entrance and you are greeted with a green "honors" board with about 100 silver shields with each of the boxers names on them that have won a title etc on them. Just seeing all the history on the board and all you can think to yourself is " I want my name up there" sadly I never managed to achieve that but no saying I will never box for them again and finally get my name up there.

Mick Mcallister (head coach) is also a great coach and a really nice guy. A little note as well, as I was preparing for the ABAs last year they got Frankie Gavin to come to the gym to spar especially for me! Did 6 straight rounds with him and it was awesome!

As you can see I am quite tied to the place and really miss the atmosphere, the lads, Mick and the olympic size boxing ring (oh yes! :D).

Get your arse there mate will be the best thing you will do.
