I'm the same Black. Going to Germany and supporting haye but fully expecting to see a stoppage by Wlad.
Moore was a sneaky *******, very much like Walcott for sneaky counter punches. I love rocky, but it just he was champion in that little pocket of time where there was no big guys EVEN for that time which would be 210 or so....cant remember off by hand, but Walcott was the biggest at 6'0 and 200, Moore, Charles- Oh just checked...he was champ from 52 to 55...not 53 to 56 my bad. Also that Cockerill fight is AWFUL Walcott twice, charles twice...havent seen lastarza fight yet. I dunno....less than 5 years later you had beats come along like Williams, Liston even Patterson would have offered a sterner test. Great heart rocky had, and of course an american hero to many...but to be objective...i dont see him top ten and alot of writers at that time didnt see it aswell.
I think I've got at least one of the LaStarza fights, I'll put it on Youtube net week if you are interested? I agree on Rocky, if he was born 5 years later then he's got real trouble!!! I think he's get through Patterson but Liston? No chance!! I'd take a prime Williams as well.
Its a tough one, I know Wlad gets alot of stick.....but he has actually improved...and by quite a bit. When Haye did Macca (was there) He kept upping his game, the Haye of the Mormeck fight would have lost to the Haye of the Macca fight...then upped his game against Barrett. Meanwhile Wlad looked terrible against, Ibragimov, Thompson and he was AWFUL against a well past it Rahman, AT THAT TIME Davey boys beats Wlad. Then the opposite happens, Haye stops progressing, becomes a big celebrity and stays at the same level (the eye of tiger is going), pot shots against a tree Valuev (holyfield a year earlier looked better), really sloppy against Ruiz and then takes on a fighter outside the top 25 in Harrison. Wlad meanwhile has his best performance in years against Chagaev and look good against a very underrated chambers (eddie has the best upper body movement in the division)....thats the fight game i guess. Also i think haye has more chance with Vitali than Wlad..but thats me i guess
Yeah put it up man, we need to spread knowledge..Funnily enough I first saw Rocky Marciano fight in 1997 on VHS...there was a trader in scotland...had training footage of him aswell. VHS to DVD...now hard drive...how times have changed. Oh wait....someone gonna tell me VHS beats hard drives lol.
You got to give it to Vitali never down,(was down against corie in the first round but not given) and 2 time champion- His two losses so far, ones from an injury and another to possibly the greatest fighter ever. Beating- Kirk Johnson C. Sanders D. Williams S. Peter J. C Gomez S. Briggs O. Solis Other notables wins like Hide, K. Johnson, L. Donald...B level fighters but decent wins. He could very well add Adamek to that list aswell. ATG.....to me means stand out of that time- Vital along with his brother is the stand out of the last 8 years....fact.
Funny you should say that. I cleared out my spare room last week and came across a load of tapes I used to treasure. Camacho-Rosario, Hearns-Kinchen, Duran-Barkley etc and I threw threw them in the bin because they are all on my hard drive these days!!! Those tapes used to be gold dust!!!
Patterson was unlucky, he had two monsters in heavyweight terms liston and ali on his shoulders. Patterson really belongs to that by gone era....but i do remember watching him on tapes having it in the 70s...in fact he fought ali a second time....and gave it a good go. Strange guy too, very fragile mentally.
Did Rosario have that beek a boo style? I remember a fighter i loved watching having a very similar style to tyson....il have to look on youtube...edwin rosario
MASSIVE upset mate. One of those fights that seems easy to call now but virtually no one saw coming at the time. I take it you're an old **** like me?

Nice one Flea, that'll fill the time after the Kessler fight. JLR was a hell of a fighter in his prime but gets a bit of bad press for the Sweet Pea debacle. Camachos win over him was probably the Macho Mans best win.
Im young, im one of those one that gets younger by the day. Benjamin button stole my life *******. I remember when i first got into boxing, getting hundreds of fight tapes....there was a friend who loved it aswell and he had bill cayton entire collection...there was an announcer on it and the way he introduced the legends of the sport...it made me want to be a boxing champion. In fact i think Julius francis was hitting the speed ball lol on it....have to conjour it up somewhere. Also il give rocky some due - I once asked my friend who knew everything about boxing from the little boys to the heavyweights (this was before BOXREC).......i would test him and get these big books out and was bang on and he was spot on, he would always predict results, 9 times out of 10 was always right i remeber him telling me that Hasim Rahman was gonna knock Lewis out in the 3rd (i laughed so hard) what happens? he gets knocked out in the 5th...coudlnt belive it... . .I asked one day who he thought was the scariest boxer of all times. He sat there quite, im like a little school boy waiting for him to respond...he takes several more minutes...then turns and there it is...im thinking Liston, no Formman, no no he gonna say Tyson oh **** it Its gonna be Duran..he loves the lightweights....he says in a stoic way Rocky Marciano. I sat there in silence? What i said? In a soft voice, he said 'no man ever took a beating like that, and still believed he could win, he was scary because he would rather die in the ring than lose and no other fighter comes close to that.' In hindsight i think he was referencing to the first walcott fight...but for all the boys that love the rock...then take it from me, thats a big compliment.
