The skill difference will be just as great. Chavez Jr. does not know how to effectively use his size; he's not a sharp, sophisticated swarmer. He's a clumsy fighter who neglects his height and trades on the inside, relying on his volume and chin. Cotto will use his jab, footwork, superior accuracy, defense, ring IQ, and combination punching to keep him honest and at distance. Fun fight, but Cotto is too good for him. I know it. He can pull it off and it would be a good accomplishment, as he will be in great condition to push forward.

At first glance, it does appear it could be somewhat tricky for Cotto.

Two things that would worry me for Cotto, that Chavez seems to have a good chin, is consistent with his offense, as he seems to have the stamina to maintain a good pace, where as Cotto seems unable to maintain a good pace (N'Dou, Mosley, Margarito). Cotto doesn't carry that much power either imo, he's a good to decent puncher dont get me wrong, but he's not a particularly big puncher imo, and with Chavez having shown a good chin in the past, coming down from near 175, Cotto might find it difficult to hurt him, although I dare say he could hurt him to the body.

Its probably worth pointing out, that Chavez seems to get hit quite a lot with left hooks imo, and Cotto's power hand is the left, as he's a converted lefty if I recall.

We saw what happened when Margo took Cotto's best shots, got inside, slowed Cotto down with the body attack, made him fight every min of every round.

Cotto is obviously the more skilled, but the will, stamina, durability, and size of Chavez cannot be discounted here imo.

Cotto will probably have to be active to keep Chavez at bay imo, he will have to use the stick to dictate range, keep him turning the middle of the ring, hit that body to take away his stamina.

Chavez has had his problems with numerous fighters earlier in his career, but he wasn't as big as he is now.

 

I think Cotto is too small for Middle weight too but Chavez Jr could've got KO by Zbik if he had any power. and Chavez face was touched up too. Skill and Chavez will to fight in the ring, will get his ASS KO in beautiful fashion and me and all my ricans will be there deep to celebrate!! I better start working out now because alot of mexicans are gonna be pissed when Chavez jr gets his ass beat
