It's not like he just wanders around graveyards hoping for mourners to pass so that he can knock them out.
It wouldnt matter if they fought at 130 or 135 Burns would be far to good for Gavin imo. Rickys so much faster and more skillfull and gets stronger as the fight goes on something clearly Gavin has an issue with.
Not in my opinion is he faster or more skillful, however he could well take Rees down the stretch on fitness. No way FW lets any of his fighters near Rees
Well you must be blind to think Rickys not so much faster than Gavin, just ask anyone whos shared a ring with Ricky in the last 24 months.Gavins a strong lad but a little limited imo, kotelnik gave him a boxing lesson theres the blueprint
Burns definitely has a good enough engine to trouble Rees...but I'm not certain he's that much faster or a better operator myself. M'Baye, as bog standard as he is, is probably better than anyone Burns has faced. Kotelnik is also bigger, stronger, and more experienced than Ricky, Billy. Kotelnik at 140lbs would likely cause more problems to Rees than Ricky at 130 IMO, though it'd certainly be a good place to study how to beat Rees ;-) :good
I don't think Gav could make the weight tbh but if he did he would be a wrecking machine, he is certainly very strong at whatever weight he fights at.
I think Gavin would bank enough early rounds against Burns to compensate the later rounds that he would lose.
Andy Murray, who looked so poor against Rees, beat Ricky Burns as an amateur. Why was Murray such a let-down? Very poor.
murray, watson, mbaye all looked bad against him think its more to do with the way he fights got to give him credit for that rees is a very underrated fighter
Im not denying Gavin is strong, but kotelnik outfought him outboxed him and if i remember right stopped him
Funnily enough Billy, being a light welter, he's bigger than 130lbs, and Ricky is a feather fist ;-) :good
I think Burns would beat Rees. Hes a nice strong operator and he's not one to take too many steps back. He stays in front of you picking his shots and forcing you back. When he needs to he'll take a step back or to the side and then reset his attack from there. And if this plan failed, Burns has showed in the past he has some lovely 'on-the-move' boxing ability to call from. If you look at what Kotelnick did, Burns could do that, if not you seen Watson giv ehim trouble with boxing, Burns could do that. And he can up it as the fight goes. I'd put 2 weeks wages on Burns.
