Agreed. Should be entertaining and draw well. We have a location yet? I'd think of putting it in Texas, personally. You could get a big gate. :good
Hmmm when you think about it this is as tough of a fight out there as there is at WW. Ortiz just showed us he means business. The added weight as some suggested would do him good since he was draining his body to make 140. Ortiz is quick has boxing skills power and youth on his size. PBF has experience speed and skills on his. this is a hell of a fight and i for one think once again PBF outdid Pac. Expect Pac to fight Ortiz after if he loses. No way in hell he fights him if he wins. One has to go with the obvious choice PBF by decision but Ortiz is a live live dog. That power is pretty brutal and his speed is very good. I for one would not be surprised to see PBF touch the canvas. I am actually excited for this fight.
If PAC isn't going to take the tests, this is a very nice substitute. Floyd is sticking to his guns. Either take the test or you don't get a shot at "Joy". Only moving up to face Martinez is more intriguing at this point. Quality fight. At this point, we know we are going to get the VERY BEST Mayweather out there. He knows there's too much to risk so he'll prepare immaculately. Only 8 weeks away!
Agreed. I think Ortiz has little chance here. It reminds me in some ways of Floyd-Baldomir: Floyd fights a guy who has a strap but who is almost certainly not going to be able to do anything with Floyd. Good choice by Floyd in opponent.
Interesting to see peoples comments!!!! I'm surprised, where are all the Matthew Hatton type comments?
The Pac-Mayweather fight is going to be amazing if it's a unification as well. I think this is a good sighn that he's interested in fighting Pac early next year. I will respect Mayweather twice as much for taking this fight as I do now.
Ortiz falls down a lot and takes a fair amount of punches. Expect it to be a little like Floyd-Hatton. Good use of pressure, but not enough defense on Victor's part to keep it up for the whole fight. I think he'll make a good showing but that's about all I expect of Victor.
stfu u clown. Floyd said an offer was never brought to him or Al Haymon. He said Bob Arum has not contacted Haymon and if you want a fight with him thats who you contact.
3-5 for me. Martinez still edges him out. He is just too inactive to push back up there so quickly. Especially with Ortiz who was barely top 5 in JrWW just recently.
Mayweather may stop him actually. I knew this fight was gonna come off when I saw Mayweather at Ortiz/Berto. Funny how Manny is fighting Marquez, a guy Floyd was bashed for dominating. And Floyd is fighting a young, prime champion coming off the best victory of his career. Yet it's Floyd that's called the ducker and dodger.
Sounds about right, including the fighter moving up. Though, to be fair, Ortiz looked better at 147 than Hatton did (even if he looked beatable vs Berto).
