If true then more power to him. I highly doubt it though. Ortiz has never even headlined or co-headlined a PPV before nor has he proven to be a big draw. I can see a guarantee of 15-20mil for Floyd, but not $40mil. Maybe 40mil after all is said and done including ppv revenue.

Steve Kim isn't always a great source when it comes down to details.

Mayweather Promotions is the lead promoter for the fight. Meaning, they'd be the one "guaranteeing" 40 million. So in that aspect, the guarantee doesn't mean anything since it's Floyd's own company. If GBP was the lead promoter, they'd be on the hook. But they aren't that stupid. A few math equations would show you that it'd be really difficult to guarantee $40 for this fight.

How quickly will this sell out if its in MGM? Does Mayweather sell out in hours?

Mayweather Promotions isnt even a legitimate promotional company nor do they even have a promoters license. That is why they use GBP to promote their fights. GBP lets Floyd fly his banners just for good measure.

Got damn that is alot of money. I'm pretty sure Floyd can market the fight well so he would make even more.

Mayweather comes across as someone who loves to exagerate his earnings. A little early to believe the $40M figure.
Remember the WWE appearace...it was reporting he got $20M for that...then it turned out it was actually a lot less ($2M?)

Ortiz is a fresh young lion, this fight will have some hype to it. I wish Ortiz the best of luck, but I don't think he'll have the power to stop Floyd who might actually be physically stronger than Ortiz.

Top Rank has been accused in the past of reporting a lower than actual salary for Pacquiao because Golden Boy gets a portion of his wages, and Uncle Sam takes more than usual as well.

Who the **** gives Floyd $40 M guaranteed with just three months to go and not enough time to promote? Unless this fight is push around november Floyd ain't getting 40 mil. GBP would be a total idiots to guarantee such a huge amount with just a few months to promote. And *****S quickly jumped on the gun on this just to brag their hero is the highest paid fighter alive :patsch

LOL sure!! Just like the BS that he got 10 mil for wrestlemania. Guys its BS. Do some quick math on what the fight generates. If it does 1 mil. ppv at 60 a pop thats 60 mil. of which a chunk goes to the ppv provider. Dont believe guys who have a History of lying.
