There are people on this board that seriously want Arum dead because he doesnt make the fights that they want.

    True Story.

People can say what they want about Arum, but I will always respect the man for helping Genaro. He never promoted him, didnt know him well, but went out of his way to help him when he heard about his struggle. That is admirable.

Boxers are morons, unfortunately, should have health insurance through a union but there is no boxing union because, like I said, boxers are not very intelligent.

Thats not true at all except for the health insurance part. I know a lot of very intelligent boxers. Hernandez for example is clearly a smart guy if you've ever heard him do commentary. Some boxers arent smart, but thats true of any profession.

This is an interview with Genaro from this weekend I believe. Its very hard to listen to. Had me in tears to be honest. This is a great man, if we could keep this page going for a bit as a tribute it would be appreciated. Genaro is everything boxing fans could want in a fighter and champion.

Just as a final reminder to everyone that Chicanito was a hell of a fighter in his day, here's the rematch against an extremely talented, two division champion Raul "Jibaro" Perez.

    Thanks again, Chicanito.

Yes he was. He deserves a lot of respect from boxing fans. I see 9 out of 10 posts about Mayweather tweeting something that there is months to talk about, but I think a lot of people dont realize that Genaro was a very significant name on Floyds resume. His first world title fight. Maybe some havent seen his battle with Azumah Nelson where he was punched in the throat and could have taken 5 minutes or won by dq if he couldnt continue, but immediately elected to continue and won on points. He may have very well beaten Oscar had Mosley not broken his nose in sparring a week or two earlier but he fought anyways and om my card was getting the better of Osacar till his nose was pretty much shattered. Genaro fought in 15 world title fights and won 13 of them. He wasnt just a good fighter, he was a great fighter. Underrated imo, but he should be an eventual candidate for the HOF. Genaro was really a perfect true boxer in the rimg and a honest and good human being, a true champion.
