Another know it all without a clue. DLH could do over 1 million buys against Butterbean? DLH has broken the 1 million mark three times. Against Nard, Tito, and Money May. All three of those guys are future Hall of Famers and all three beat him. So there goes that stupid theory. No one gives a **** about Pavlik beating cans, and overhyed fighters who haven't proved anything in the form of Miranda. Cotto does not get the award for beating up old men and Floyd leftovers. Money May is the face of boxing, deal with it. No other prime fighter is a bigger attraction in the sport. The Bible of Boxing and Mr. Rafael have spoken, Money May is the fighter of the year.:deal No amount overly long and ignorant posts are going to change that. Get it through your thick skull.
You know something, this is actually a good argument for Pavlik....but go ask a mainstream about pavlik and you will get a "Who"? Oh and Oscar is no longer the face of boxing...Floyd is. Just like Tyson is no longer the face of boxing when Oscar took over. Floyd proved that he doesn't need Oscar to sell PPV, see Hatton for details and the mainstream public in the USA doesn't know Hatton so it Floyd. Pavlik beat Zerturche so what? who is that? He beat Miranda but Abraham already beat him and again, who is Miranda. The Taylor win was WAYYYY immpresive but it wasn't like he was dominating or anything and he only won because Taylor is a horrible finisher and even after the 2nd round, Pavlik was LOSING the FIGHT!!! You can't compare opponent like Zeturche, Miranda and Taylor (who I like alot) to Oscar and Hatton. Look there will be many fans who will give it to either Cotto or Pavlik but the majority will give it to Floyd. He did his thing on a grander scale and did more for boxing than Pavlik did.
When you think about it logically, when DLH was fighting on a consistent basis back in the 90's and early 2000's many people had illegal cable boxes. I know I never had to pay for a ppv event during that time, as i am sure many other people didnt have to buy them either. I am sure DLH would have had more than just 3 ppv fights that sold over 1,000,000 buys during that time. Just something to think about. I would like to credit Erik Raskin for reminding me in one ariticle he wrote a couple of months back. I am not a PBF hater, but I do believe that Pavlik deserved Fighter of the Year. Fighter of the year for me, is someone who is involved in fights where the public doesnt alreday know the outcome before the fight begins or when they are first signed. That can not be said for PBF-where in both his fights he was the heavy favorite.
I have a better idea, why don't you go play in traffic? The world would be a better place without your simple ass in it.
Im fine with Mayweather getting FOTY but I was slightly leaning more towards Pavlik. Cotto wasn't even close. It was close between the two, and I was perfectly content with one of them getting it.
So now you're resorting to contradicting yourself. On one hand, you say DLH and HBO sold the fight and not Mayweather. However, you mentioned earlier that DLH didn't have 24/7 or DWTS to promote his fight with Nard. Well, 24/7 was Mayweather's idea, and only Mayweather, not Hatton, was on DWTS. So which is it? Is it DLH and HBO that are selling these fights or is it Money May's out of the ring activities, lightning rod personality, and superior skills that help sell these fights? Hatton was the reason for that fights success in America? Man, you're even dumber than I thought. He's not even from this country. No one knows this guy over here. None of his other 3 fights in the States were even close to a sellout, and none of them were worthy enough for ppv. All of a sudden he fights Floyd, and the fight sells out in 1/2 hour, does 10+ million from the live gate, and becomes the biggest ppv fight not involving DLH or a heavyweight. Wow, what a conicedence.
Mayweather was able to sell 25k less then Mosley-Cotto, in his Baldomir fight. He can sell. Did DLH help him, yes, but DLH would of never got 2.4k, without Mayweather and vice versa. He wasen't a world beater but it was a good win. Miranda should of been a champion in that fight. Grat in for Pavlik but you CANT discredit Floyd for not being able to finish opponents as often as Pavlik. Mayweather has moved up in weight. He did KO Ricky and was on his way to TKOing Judah before the low blow. But this shouldn't discredit Floyd or any fighter thats moved up in weight. Adversity is great to see, but it's even greater if a fighter is so good he never has to go through it. You are giving Kelly credit because he ****ed up what he was doing, got hurt, got KDed and got up. Mayweather has never been as hurt as Kelly was, but you give Kelly the credit for going down. It's unfair, a fighter defensively as good as Floyd should get more credit for not getting hurt. DLH faded, DLH was not faded please god stop using this excuse, if DLH is faded then Mosley is on his deathbed. Mayweather went up to 154. A lot of things were in Oscars favor and Floyd overcame it. Great win for him. The fight at against Hatton 140 or 147. Hatton comes into fights weighing 152-154 on fight night in his JR Welterweight fights. Against Collazo he weighed 160 against Mayweather he weighed 154. So the WEIGHT IS NOT AN EXCUSE. The reason I think it ended up going to Floyd was because Jermains past fights he hasen't looked good, and a lot of people were waiting for someone to put him away. Although to me the fighter of the year it was 50/50 possibly 55/45 for Pavlik, but the Jermain win can be looked at as, well Jermain is nothing that special, he struggled against a Cory Spinks. Etc. Thats why I think Floyd got the edge. Although I would of been perfectly fine with either Floyd or Pavlikgetting it. Possibly even a shared fighter of the year.
Oscar is not faded... He won a split with Money..A SPLIT. Beat the hell out of Mayorga Was competitive with Hopkin (winning on one of the scorecards at the time of the KO) Hatton is a pushover HE IS THE LEGITIMATE 140 lb CHAMP. He stop Castillo with a bodyshot Made Kosta quit Won WBA 147 lb title on his first fight at that weight Money started at 130 lbs and won title all the way up to 154 lbs. Those 2 guys that Money beat this year have STRONGER resume then Zertuche, Miranda and Taylor combine. Oscar has only lost to elite fighters and Hatton only lost to Money. Pavlik beat Zertuche...a guy who lost to Zuniga (who DROPPED Pavlik anyway) and you dare say it an accomplishment to beat Zertuche... Hell Floyd can beat Zertuche, Miranda and based on the Spink-Taylor fight, his chances against Jermaine ain't that bad.
