With his Movement, greater ability to control range?

What happens if Floyd starts to tire from moving?

what happens when Ortiz realizes he cant compete when its a slow tempo, where by Mayweather has a greater ability to control and dictate range, and starts being more aggressive, trying to pressure Floyd?

what does Floyd have to keep him out, does he have the power to make him respect the distance, to say, dont keep walking in my front door and trying to put it on me, cause this is what you'll get?

Does Floyd, when Ortiz is walking in and bringing the target to him, have the activity to rattle of combo then move, but do it consistently to offset Ortiz?

will Ortiz accept getting outboxed, or will he turn up the heat, raise the tempo, and apply pressure?

Can Mayweather afford to give Ortiz a stationary target what with Ortiz's southpaw stance, power, body attack, combinations? cause straight away Mayweather's defense will have him bending into Ortiz's power hand, that's why he's got hit more against Judah, Corley than anyone else, only Ortiz is more powerful than those two imo.

I'm picking Mayweather(60/40), based on experience, greater ability to control range, Ortiz's leaky defense at times, inability to cut the ring off, or tendency to come in on the line sometimes, and lack of a great trainer to lay out a sufficient blue print, but this will be a competitive fight imo.

Ortiz will break through Mayweather's defense if he stands still imo, and I dont know if Mayweather has the power, activity level, to keep Ortiz out, when Ortiz turns up the heat, which is what makes this fight interesting to me.

Pop shots and working the ring basically what he did with Ricky Hatton use his aggression against him.

    60/40 ????

So you believe if Mayweather and Ortiz fought twice, Ortiz would be a favorite to winning atleast 1 of the 2?

There is a slight possibility that Floyd's legs aren't what they used to be, but considering his work ethic, natural ability, and the fact that he should be well rested, it's not likely this will be the case.

So unlike Berto who has no foot movement to speak of and prefered to slug it out with Ortiz or employ his tactics of punch and hold, Floyd will use his superior footwork to move laterally and away from Ortiz.

He'll likely control the distance with his jab and capitalize on mistakes with his right hand. There may be times where Floyd entices Victor on the inside, and these tactics will be employed to tire Victor out who sometimes punches without much thought.

However, if this really is a tune-up for Pac, (doubtful), Floyd's best strategy would be to avoid any confrontation with Ortiz other than controlling the distance and boxing from the outside.

This is likely what will happen even if the fight with Pac isn't made afterwards (likely).

Floyd will allow Victor some success in the 1st couple of rounds, just enough to let him believe he can get into Floyd, then he will spend the rest of the fight beating Ortiz to everything and an easy points win.

Its such a clever little tactic by Floyd which hes used a hell of alot, his opponants are not morons, they know how good Floyd is and what hes good at, so instead of having a very cautious opponant Floyd gives them a few little titbits to entice them and make them believe they can get into him.

Hatton came to him quickly, wrecklessly, Ortiz will probably edge his way foward, pick his spots more conservatively, but stay within the confines of his technique, he's also bigger and stronger than Hatton, probably takes a better punch to, and Ortiz will land when he gets inside, that is a huge difference, being that he's a lefty.

I aint regimenting myself to any train of thought like that, all I'm saying is, I anticipate a competitive fight based on the factors I mentioned.

I don't think this is Floyd's intention though. I just think like any human being, it takes him a moment to adjust to his opponent and react accordingly.

His opponents didn't come there to play around. They came there to win, so you have to give them some credit.

Ortiz may have success initially, but that's because he may attempt the same tactic he used against Berto and use his size and strength to bully Mayweather. Unfortunately, Mayweather is a big strong welterweight (see him against Mosley), and Ortiz will only tire himself out faster.

This will allow Mayweather to get into his rhthymm and box Ortiz from the outside and win a wide decision. Honestly, Bradley would be a better fight because while he lacks Ortiz' power, he has the movement, the footspeed, and the know how to get inside and make Mayweather have to work.

Mayweather honestly should have picked Bradley. Bradley has made it known that he wants Mayweather, but that's another story.

IMO I do not see Ortiz landing any shots that will hurt Floyd maybe a couple of blows nothing he hasn't been hit with before. Floyd will just outbox him easy I say he wins by a wide UD of even a late TKO

Hatton couldn't land inside, Ortiz will, Hatton got knocked out, Ortiz wont, Ortiz tucks up, Hatton doesn't, Ortiz is powerful, Hatton isn't, not for that weight class anyway, if at all, Ortiz throws straighter punches, Hatton very rarely does, Ortiz's power hand comes from the other side, where Mayweather likes to bend to avoid punches.

The difference between what Floyd did to Hatton, what he might do to Ortiz, are night and day imo.

I think this fight will look like Floyd-Mosley, Floyd takes advantage of the fact that he can throw the jab 100 times better than his opponent. Difference is Floyd stops Ortiz in the 9th. Ortiz isn't an iron chinned hero, and Mosley is good at avoiding getting hit when he doesn't want to.

jacking him up with a right hand counter. the jab won't be as important as the cross. I'm not sure if floyd will be using his legs and combos a lot considering his inactivity, but we'll see.

I expect him to walk him down. He'll be right in front of him & wont really get hit. He'll make it seem as if Ortiz isn't even a power puncher. He'll throw right hands. He'll do what he usually does to southpaws.
