That will be a mistake imo, cause Ortiz can counter punch, generally throws straight, and can bang.

You are right about the shoulder roll and what it is used for. The thing is on the inside the Southpaw stance really doesn't matter anymore bc both he and Ortiz will be more squared up and that is when Floyd will use it.

Ortiz may be bigger if not then more powerful and stronger than Floyd. It all depends on how Floyd looks from inactivity and aging for me to make predictions now so I'll wait during the fight. Heads up, Floyd won't be as fast as he was but the quickness will still be there(think Jason Kidd) and his intellect will still help him compete at a high level. How faded is Floyd will be the biggest factor as to how Ortiz/Mayweather will play out and if his timing/reflexes are off. Guys like Moore didn't fight as flashy as Floyd so Floyd needs to stop his pull counter crap, keep his hands up, and evade punches fundamentally as aging will affect those reflexes he tends to use a bit more than he needs to. Also, Ortiz needs to work more on his combination punching a little more and stop being so eager when going for the kill. He could've stopped Berto with patience and better inside punch placement.

Guys like Mayweather & Hopkins have a way from taking their opponents power from them. They may smother them, go to the body, etc.

I can see what your saying, however I personally I think Ortiz might be too powerful for Floyd to languish inside with.

Hopkins is more adept at handling lefty's imo, and he's more physical than Mayweather. Hopkins has generally always been big for his weight to, coming down from 175 most his career.

I think Floyd has been prepared for this his whole life. Power doesn't bother him. We are talking about a guy who was boxing top notch pro's in the gym as a teenager. He has faced guys with punching power on several occasions. I think Ortiz will get dominated. It will be like high speed chess in that ring. Ortiz does bring something to the table. The problem is Floyd has the ability to take that **** off the table. Most people always ask what or how will Floyd stop something but they never ask how will his opponent stop him from doing what he is capable of doing?

Might man strength, pro Boxing, change the landscape a bit though? Ortiz is no bum either, lets not get it twisted.

That is what I have question marks about? he does have the ability to do that, but consistently is what I what I want answering? I dont know if he does with the power, inactivity he displays, although I do think he'll win, although as I say, I think it will be competitive.

Mayweather attended the Ortiz -- Berto fight. At one point the camera panned to him and he was laughing as if to say "look at the slapstick boxing show these two guys are putting on! This is hysterical!".

The calculating Mayweather (and he is calculating) watched Victor Ortiz fight and thought to himself "I can beat this guy in my sleep and make 75% of what I'd make against Pacquiao.".

Floyd wont tire, we have never seen floyd tired. Ortiz will tire first because he will be throwing more but landing less and getting countered in the process.

Pressure isnt the best style to beat floyd as people always say over and over. The best style to beat floyd is a tall big guy with a good jab, like DLH won a lot of rounds doing and Winky would have easily beat Floyd and Forrest would have been a bad matchup for him.

Ortiz will try to keep the pressure up but he will get tired from missing and being countered then by the second half floyd will be backing him up and he is not a guy that wants to fight going backwards but will find himself in that position.

It means that if they fight five times Ortiz will win two of them

Its not just that pressure, or a tall fighter is the best style to beat Floyd, its about making him more aggressive, now if you are tall, and can hit him from a distance where he cant hit you, he will have to be more aggressive, but also, if you can be aggressive, but maintain a good defense as you roll foward, as though to take away his target area as you come foward, he will have to be more assertive with the punches he throws, he will essentially have to do more to find the target, be more aggressive, engage more.

When you offer up an easy target, like what Maidana did to Khan, its easier to rattle of a combo, then move, but what happens when the target is taken away, and you have to find a way to land before moving? you have to be more assertive, more aggressive.

Pressure whilst cutting the ring down, whilst maintaining a good defense, is the best way to pressurize Mayweather imo. Ortiz doesn't have an air tight defense, nor is he particularly good at cutting the ring down imo, but Castillo didn't have a great defense, but what Ortiz might have in common with Castillo, is that he tucks up well, so even when you land, maybe its not always easy to see whats landing, where as when someone like Manny gets hit, he gets his head snapped back, its more visible.

Ortiz being a being powerful southpaw makes it interesting for me, however I dont know, if he CAN cut the ring down effectively to get inside, if he can though, this is not a simple fight for Floyd imo.
