The Ring annual ratings do not tell the complete story.

Mario Veit was ranked in the TOP TEN by all four organisations when he fought Joe:

    WBA #5
    WBC #5
    WBO #1 - Calzaghe's mandatory.
    IBF #7

    You fool!

if you want to start going by the organizations' rankings, i'm sure joe beat a lot of ranked guys. as a matter of fact, you can pay the organizations right now and they'll say that all of joe's former opponents were ranked. they might even crown you a champ if you have enough money.

No it isnt :patsch. I showed that it is 17 opponents out of 24 world title fights. He is looking at yearly ratings not monthly :patsch
Yes Veit was. So stupid and ignorant . Blinded by hate

Veit when Calzaghe fought him a 2nd time
1: Joe Calzaghe* (GB), 38-0, WBO

    2: Jeff Lacy, 19-0-0-1, IBF

3: Mikkel Kessler (Denmark), 35-0, WBA

4: Markus Beyer* (Germany), 32-2, WBC

    5: Danny Green (Australia), 19-2

    6: Mads Larsen* (Denmark), 45-2

7: Robin Reid (GB), 38-4-1, IBO

    8: Anthony Mundine (Australia), 23-2

Veits resume isnt bad and he has a better SMW resume than Dirrell for example

    Butthurt much?

One can be in the top 10 in each sanctioning body, but still not top 10 in a division. Veit is a prime example. :hi:

Look below. Veit was in the SMW top 10
Like 17 opponents out of 24 world title fights for Calzaghe also were or became after beaten by Calzaghe. He is looking at yearly ratings not monthly :patsch

calzaghe was past it too when he beat jones and hopkins.

i agree his resume is weak, and he could have done more. but you can't ignore that joe has great boxing skills and would beat any champ smw now on points.

if joe was american, you *** will treat him similar to floyd. 46 - 0 > 41 -0.

This is a really good post, but just for your info, James Toney was p4p#2 when Roy beat him, not #3.

How anyone can seriously compare calzaghe with RJJ and Hopkins is beyond me!

Calzaghe's career was the perfect example of "protecting" a fighter and only fighting hand-picks

Please list the fighters in the 10/11 year WBO reign in the Ring's list that he didn't fight. Let's see if there's anybody there that would have significantly improved his stock........ I'm waiting.

The fact that Calzaghe managed to get 574 shows how poor his opposition was.
Maidana has almost as many points.
