Valero was 27-0 (27 KOs, 19 of which occurred in the first round). Former WBA Super Featherweight champion and former WBC Lightweight champion. He is the only fighter in the 30 years of the WBC to win every fight in his career by knockout.

Personally..... I think he could have become P4P best, if the inevitable didn't happen, he would have cleaned up the LW division (inc Marquez) and be currently campaigning at LWW fighting the best there.

I think he could of made some noise but if he would of step in with a guy that could work the ring and counter like a Marquez it could of been a different story. Who knows?

nothing more than he already had

he was too destructive to himself and his career would have gone downhill sooner or later

No-one knows. His best win was DeMarco...he would have struggled when he stepped up IMO. Like someone has said, a boxer like Marquez would probably have made him look amateurish.

I think the turning point for him was DeMarco fight, where he showed he could box, rather than being a pure KO artist. Had he was allowed to box in the US more and was in the hands of trainer that could hone his skills further and 'look after him', he probably would had been one of the best in the ring, and level headed out of it.

If Diaz and Katsidis can hit Marquez flush and knock him down (like Katsidis), you can bet Valero, who hits much harder can too, and Marquez wouldn't be getting back up.

I was impressed by his boxing in that bout, but it wasn't at the greatest level. Like you said, if he was in the hands of a great trainer, we may have seen him improve. But from what I saw of him, Marquez would have made him look silly (he could possibly knock JMM down, but JMM would more than likely get up and go on to win).

Before he became a murderer and a coward, there was talk of a Pacquiao bout, that bout would have ended his career.

JMM got up from 3 Pacquiao knockdowns in the first round, I would put a great deal of money on him getting up from Valero. Valero had not been knocking out World level opposition before he killed himself.

valero would have beaten anyone from lw to ww barring mayweather,i belive form the odlh sparring incident valero knew the formula to beat pacman, all along and i think he would have bin the first person to stop the great jmm,i rekon he would have reached p4p no#2 and challenged mayweather by 2013 and loose a lopsided ud

I think it's quite obvious that Valero is being overrated now that he is gone, it's easy to do that when you know you can never be proved wrong. I think he would struggle at the highest level against people with a reasonable defence and some speed/timing.
