Since the departure of lewis heavyweight boxing has seen these two great fighters at the top. Usually in this situation the two top contenders will face off but considering the family connection that will never happen here. The only way to separate them is by looking at the resume. Considering lewis was considered by every man and his dog as the heavyweight champ it is fair to look since his retirement. Vitali quickly rose to number 1 but retired soon before returning in dominant fashion against some top contenders. Wlad hit his stride in 05. He rose to prominence in his brothers absence and has kept his place at the top. But during this time frame who has the superior resume? Wlad or vitali? Or should this be remembered as a joint era?
I see absolutely no case for Vitali here unless some of his opponents prove to have been more, in retrospect, if that makes any sense. I just woke up. Solis, Arreola and perhaps Johnson have some chance at doing that but I'm not expecting much.
Clearly Wlad. Vitali's only good opponent, on paper, was Solis and even that fight had a farcical ending.

Wlad by a distance. He's done just about all he could do with this dreadful era of Heavyweights - take on all the top contenders and beat them. He has his faults (I'm not a fan of his fighting style at all) but failing to face the best available opponents certainly isn't one of them.
This pretty much everyone not associated with the wbc has been defeated by wladimir. The povetkin fight needs to happen imo. Same with valuev if he ever returns to boxing.
One was retired for four of those years. Take a ****ing guess. That said, when looking at their opposition as the poster above listed i'm pretty suprised that there isn't a larger discrepancy than there is.
Well I sometimes see people describe the post lewis era as "the era of the klitschko brothers" I think a more art description would be "the era of wlad klitschko"
