More WBA nonsense

    All of these orgs like to make it up as they go along, but it's gotten particularly fascinating at FW with Gamboa. Gamboa won the WBA interim title at FW. As the interim champ, Gamboa was supposed to fight the real champ, Chris John. Out of nowhere, John was elevated to super champ despite not being a unified champ, as stated per their own rules. Gamboa was then upgraded from interim champ to regular champ. Following so far?

    Next, Gamboa fought the IBF champ. WBA rules state that only the super champ can unify. However, the WBA disregraded that rule and allowed this to be a unification match. Gamboa won and became a two belt holder. WBA rules state that unified champs are elevated to super champ status. As a result, Gamboa was elevated to super champ. John kept his super champ status, which meant that there were two WBA Super Champs at FW, as well as a regular champ, and probably an interim champ(that's what happens when you disregard rules). Still follow?

    It gets better. Gamboa was stripped of his IBF belt before his last fight for refusing to comply with their second weigh in rule. Recently, the WBA(months after the fact mind you), has decided to strip Gamboa of his WBA title. Their reasoning for stripping him is that he is no longer a unified champ and that only unified champs can be super champs. This is laughable of course considering that Chris John was elevated to Super Champ without being a unified champ(ditto for Andre Ward, and Antonio Margarito).

    I guess the WBA doesn't even want to hide the fact that they are a joke. They just make up **** as they go along. Their blatant disregard for order has created a situation where they've diluted their own belt, ON A DIVISION LEVEL. Whereas before, there were 3 or 4 total champs per division, the WBA itself now has 3 or 4 champs per division.

    so gamboa no longer has any titles of any kind thats weird

    i never considered him a champ or the salido fight a unification but when he won and got the ibf i recognized him as champ

    I thought what happened was Chris John was elevated because you can also elevate to Super Champ after something like 10 title defenses OR unification. But even then, if that was the case Gamboa should have either been allowed to fight John or John shouldn't have been elevated. Hell, I'm surprised they haven't just made Khan a Super Champ. Also, they always make someone a super champ because they're popular or well known. So isn't Marquez also a super champ for being a WBO/WBA belt holder?

    **** it. I take the WBA least seriously. They just toss out some chicken bones when they made up their rules. Be on the look out for Super Interim Champion!

    And its not only the WBA but the WBC and rest of the joke organizations. Boxing is becoming more of a joke because of all these organizations. I am not a fan of UFC but I was explained by a fan of them that the UFC runs their program diffrent. According to him, IF I understood correctly, they have a "bracket" system where they have to fight each other until one has a right to fight the champion. Sort of like how Dos Santos won this weekend and now has the right to fight Cain. That to me is how boxing should be run but it isn't because of all the organizations and their BS rules and to top it off the damn promoters too!

    And you are right, they make the rules as they go along and no one can say anything. Who can you complain to, as a boxer? Exactly, no one, just flow along too.

    Why cant gamboa fight chris john for the super wba title instead of stripping him.

    Nobody seems willing to fight Chris John at all, I don't get it, before Lopez was exposed he didn't want to fight him neither does Gamboa?..


    I don't get it.....go to Indonesia whip his ass come back Champ what is the problem??>.:huh

    While were talking about corrupt sanctioning bodies can someone explain this for me, Alexander Alexeev fought Damian Norris for the WBO Asia Pacific Cruiserweight title, now Norris is Cuban now based in Germany (according to boxrec) so how does he qualify for an asia pacific title?

    The only orgs that keep to their own rules are the IBF and the WBO. The latter, though, is more subservient to the wishes of certain promoters than all the other orgs, though.
