i believe this is really down to his management and promoters. they always seem to promise the big fights but it always ends up with another disappointing fight. come on tommy gilmour its time for you to deliver the fights you say in the papers you can for lee mcallister.
Cornish was at the Inverness show the night before. Had a quick chat with him, really nice guy, I hope he does well. So he's not fighting Khan next at Pittodrie. To be fair to Lee, alot of the journo's etc.. are basically asking him questions like 'Would you want to fight Khan?', because tahts all they know. Whats he going to say? NO?
I dont rate the guy at all can never see his career coming to more than a commonwealth title though dont forget hes a 3 weight world champ!! (as quoted by the scottish sun!) a fight with limond would be a decent fight IMO see were hes at. i reckon limond UD
Yeah I had a quick word with him on the way out, just said well done gave him a handshake, I too hope he does well. Crazy it was just his 11th fight pro and am! Fair play about the Khan thing, but go look at all the articles online dating right back to about 2007. Every one mentions a bout/career plan that never comes to fruition, how hes going to be getting a sky date at the AECC, how hes eyeing bouts with Barrera etc. (theres even been a lot of domestic names mentioned that havent amounted to anything, Michael Gomez, Kevin Macintyre but it always end up being a euro/afro bum) Every fighter talks themselves up, but like i said, he's never even really fought at British level bar his loss to Murray, which is pretty shoddy for a guy who is marketed as a former 2 weight world champ. I highly doubt the journalists were pulling names of random mexican legends out of a hat to ask if he would like to fight them, he (or his promoters, whatever) was using them to get himself a bit of publicity. I personally think he's a lot better than his record suggests, but i can near-guarantee his next fight will be against another no mark at the ballroom.
sell out Pittodrie LOL!!! Rod Stewart couldnt do it the other night so i doubt Lee Mcallister has a chance!!!
I don't think this deserves a new thread so I'm just going to regurgitate an old one. I live in Aberdeen and have been to all of his fights for the last 3 years or so. Purely because it's pro boxing and there's not much else of that going on in Aberdeen. I'll admit that I'm not really a fan of his but he definitely has a big following here from the casuals. Is he ever going to do anything. Against John Murray, he was pretty handy for a few rounds until his personality got the better of him and he tried to slug it out. Fighting euro or afrobums isn't really going to get him in the spotlight. The Commonwealth title is held in quite high regard in some divisions such as super-middle with Groves and light-heavy with Bellew. There is no recogntion at all, outside Aberdeen that Lee is a Commonwealth belt holder. I want him to do more. ie fight someone like Lenny Daws or Jason Cook instead of basking in the horrendous granite city doldrums. Thoughts?
