From a scale from 1-10 how bad was the Oscar De La Hoya meltdown????

    OK it's 1999 and the golden boy has his mega fight against Tito Trinidad for the lineal championship, after 9 rounds of boxing he decides to do something that has never been done in boxing history ( before or after ) and run furiously for 3 plus rounds, one of the most cowardly acts in boxing history, I have never seen a boxer have a meltdown like that one in my life. Whether or not you think he won is not what this thread is about only the meltdown:scaredas:

    I don't think it was cowardly, he wasn't afraid to go toe to toe, but he was ahead on points and Steward kept telling him to move and box. He listened to his corner. They were wrong and he lost the fight.
    Would have to say that pales in comparison to SSM's last fight.

    That was a good example of good judging. Seriously, no way did ODH enough to win that fight. He did box really great, but running like that is unacceptable.

    Thankfully, we didn't have to be subjected to the ODH with that huge victory, it would have been something terrible.

    doesn't matter he had the fight in the bag and whooped that punta into a bloody pulp yeah so what trinidad landed a few big shots in the later rounds big deal if people scored fights by that rocky jurez would be a legend

    If anyone has seen the HBO Legendary Nights series, they have an episode dedicated to this, clearly something was up, as one judge gave the 12th round to ODLH, when he didn't throw a single meaningful punch for the whole round.

    Oscar won the fight, even when being bias towards Tito Trinidad the closest I could score the fight was 114 - 114

    De La Hoya ain't allowed to box he has the wrong skin color.
    (As a Latino he is expected to go toe to toe, Or die trying)

    Didn't you guys get the memo?
    Had that been P. Whitaker in there... (Instead of Oscar) It would have been considered a blowout masterclass boxing performance/shutout win.

    It DOES matter very much so, 3 rounds is 25% of the fight, and what ring legend ever said to himself " OK I think I am winning the fight so I will run the time out by going backwards " not RJJ, not Whitaker, not Wright, not Hopkins, not Mayweather, not Pacman, not Marquez, not Mosley nor any other great you can name, it is just individuals like you who want to give him a " get out of jail freecard "

    When was De La Hoya ever considered a brawler:blood, and no I did not get the memo considering you just pulled the skin color card when he was fighting a ****ing Puerto Rican, and P. Whitaker would have never put on his track shoes and run for 9 consecutive minutes
