Maybe im naive, but having known of the corruption that goes on in Boxing in different forms, the topic regarding drug taking is one that is never a issue it seems. But it seems to be the topic of debate for last few months. Maybe some drug experts can shed some light on this. But a few questions to ask yourself is 1) Why is so little drug testing done in Boxing, given it't a major factor in most other big Sports ? 2) What are the current rules on how/why a fighter gets drug tested, is it random or down to being tipped off ? 3) Can you really trust the people put in control of this, if Boxing promoters, fighters, trainers, refs & judges can be involved in corruption, why can not a drugs tester be paid off to clear certain fighters ? It's a interesting debate, one that seems to be slowly crawling out the ground, one has to worry given Boxing seems to do well hiding the bad side & corrupt side to the sport, it is highly unlikely it would ever get tackled. Interesting question for the Boxers that post on this forum, whilst they on the surface disagree with drug cheats, if a fellow Boxing friend or Gym college was taking drugs, would they have the courage to expose this ? Boxing is very clique, you in the inner circle, you either join in and profit from it, or you stay clean but don't "grass. In essence can it really ever be tackled IF it's a problem, Boxing has no leader, no police to worry, Boxing is not controlled by the board, it's controlled by money & power.
1. No overall governing body. 2. Mix 3. No Hasn't this debate been done enough over the past 2 years though?
Sure testing could be stricter but it's only become an issue recently because for whatever reason Floyd Mayweather doesn't wanna fight Manny Pacquiao. Since then according to average boxers like Pascal, Povetkin, Malignaggi and Ovill McKenzie, anyone good must be on something illegal: Pacquiao, Hopkins, Wlad, Khan, Bellew - see Tone it is a compliment
